Apple Music stops playing after update to iPad OS 17.1

The music in the Apple Music app stops playing after one or a few songs after I updated to iPad OS 17.1. Even a force quit of the app does not help. Only a restart of the device helps.

Hi, similar problem since updating iPhone to 17.1. Tried closing down the music app, force restarting it, annoyed me all day! However just deleted the Music app, and reinstalled from the App Store and works completely fine now. Hope this helps 👍🏻

I have the same experience. I upgraded my iPad to 17.1.1. I have over 700 iTunes songs which played perfectly before. Now, it will stop playing when one song is finished or even halfway. I tried everything, but nothing works, including Powering off the iPad, closing all the apps, and lastly signing off the iPad. The last is very frustrating. You have to enter your Apple password before you can sign off. That went OK. But it did not allow me to resign on, saying my password / Id was incorrect. Not true, since I managed to sign off using same. I had to use my iPhone to sign back on using a new password. Then I could not enter my passcode on my iPad. I took me over an hour to sign back on my iPad. But still, there was a synching problem which I resolved finally using my iPhone. The songs play perfectly on the iPhone. This is obviously an Apple problem. I suspect Apple did not test out the 17.1.1 version properly or maybe it wants all Apple users to subscribe to Apple Music.

Yes I know that 17.1.2 was not the fix, and I believe I stated that. However, prior to its release, I had read on some other third party tech forums/tech help websites it would be a minor update, focusing on bug fixes, but it was unclear which issues might be addressed. To be fair, at the time I read this (mid November-ish), Apple wasn't being too specific on the details of 17.1.2. As it turns out, around the time it was released, we finally found out it was an important security update which explains Apple's lack of specificity ahead of time. But that didn't necessarily mean it wouldn't contain the bug fixes I had read about. Hence it's why I used the word "supposedly" in my post. All I could do-along with everyone else-is install the update and see if maybe it would fix the music issue too, which it didn't.

That's not good, I was about to try Apple having just spent a few hours with them to sort the Touch ID issue after the latest OSX update (Mac Air and Mini both stopped working), full reinstall needed. This isn't good from Apple, its' not "just working', never known so many bugs and issues with a set of updates, not ones that physically stop things, have to say it's a little disappointing.

I'm yet another person having this Apple Music freeze problem. I see that 221 people have checked the "Me too" box, and there must be scores of people who are experiencing this who have not posted here.

It is ironic that yesterday, when I first saw this discussion, I received an email from Apple stating that my monthly fee for Apple One (which includes Apple Music) is increasing. So I'm being charged more for something that doesn't work.
