Apple Music stops playing after update to iPad OS 17.1

The music in the Apple Music app stops playing after one or a few songs after I updated to iPad OS 17.1. Even a force quit of the app does not help. Only a restart of the device helps.

Hi, similar problem since updating iPhone to 17.1. Tried closing down the music app, force restarting it, annoyed me all day! However just deleted the Music app, and reinstalled from the App Store and works completely fine now. Hope this helps 👍🏻

Updated to IOS 17.1.1 and lost all the Music functionality on my 6th generation iPad but works fine on my iPhone 13 and my iPad Pro 4th generation (on iOS 16.6; will not be updating this for a while!); removed the app, lost over 300 albums, rebooted, etc., and even after reloading the app and now using Apple Music, it will not play past one song and then freezes. After reading a month's worth of posts on the same issue, why has Apple not done anything about this???

Mine did the same thing I have a 6 Gen I Pad and downloaded IOS 17.1 and my purchased music some is there some is not some plays some dosent spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple Support they couldn’t figure it out have to escalate it to the engineering department they have no business putting out an update before making sure everything works, they also said no one else had this problem- liars, my music wasn’t affected on my I phone all is there and plays well just on the I pad

We have an iPad 7th generation and same problem. Apple Music crashes after just a few songs, this following update to iOS 17.1.1. We can listen to our playlist via Apple TV Apple Music, but not on the iPad. Most concerning. Just purchased AirPod max as a gift and now won’t be able to use it. Will 17.2 address this issue as there are so many of us on here with the same problem?

I updated the ios on the Gen 6 Ipad yesterday (Nov 30) per recommendation from Apple hoping it would fix the AppleMusic problem which fails to load. Not only did it fail in that respect, now my Ipad wil not sync with my Bose Color SoundLink claiming it cannot find the speaker which was working fine before the update. So this is apparently a problem with Bluetooth / Wi-Fi. Is it possible that a company with this increasingly undeserved reputation would put out an operating system with such fundamental flaws affecting their own platforms? Who is suddenly running this show? Geniuses? Hardly.

Disappointing isn’t it, I thought Apple were better than this, it’s left a very bad taste with me. Take comfort that the, how do I term it as we are not allowed to mention the Bxxx versions as Apple just delete the posts! Well the latest version that is coming does fix things, mine now works. It was this issue and the touchID at the same time that kill my experience. Certainly a bad Apple

Where did you find 17.2? I can't find that update -- but am hopeful will solve the problem once and for all.

Beta software, by definition, is unfinished and has bugs. Features in beta software may or may not make it to the final release. Unless you are a developer who needs to test software against the new version, you're generally better off not installing beta versions, especially if you only have one phone and you depend on it.

I just noticed that I cannot even play the samples in the iTunes Store!

Patching up to 17.1.2 (with its mandatory restart) did absolutely nothing. I am really hesitant to register as a developer in order to get the 17.2 b-test. If a production release breaks so many things, I really don’t trust a b-test.

At least I still have my old Air 2 on 15.8 that I can still play music on.

I find it very strange that people are still being told by Apple Support that they’ve never heard of this problem. People were reporting this back in October when iOS 17.1 was first released. We are now more than six weeks later, and there are tech people still pretending they’ve never heard this before? Not believable in the least. They just don’t want to admit that they screwed up.

Everyone would hold Apple in much higher regard if they acknowledged there was an issue and they were working on a fix. I would be happy with that rather than spending lots of time trying to work out how to resolve it. Its the denial that is frustrating but I guess that model isn't going to change. I've just rebuilt my ipad gain this morning with the 'latest' version so it has nothing on but Apple software, just running a test now. Music App is better, mine keeps crashing after 30 to 40 mins - time will tell!
