Dark and Blurry Selfies on iPhone 15 Pro Max

I upgraded to the new iPhone 15 pro max, but I'm having issues with the front-facing camera. Before I took the photo, it was fine, but when I saw it, my face looked darker, grainy, and blurry. I have compared it to my girlfriend's iPhone 12, and it appears that her phone does selfies much better. Does anyone face the same?

Not personally experiencing this (not even when taking a selfie in low light). Is this with the regular photo option or portrait mode? Is Raw 12 on? What are the lighting conditions? What are your settings and has adjusting them helped at all? What Photographic Style do you have it set to in settings? If it’s on anything other than Standard if you switch it back does it help change anything?

I am facing the same issue with my brand new 15 pro max 512 GB, I have found a way that fixes it. Going into the settings > Camera > photo mode > change to 12 mp.

The selfies on the 12 mp setting look a 100 times better than with the 48 mp option turned on. Hope this helps some of you guys! And apple please fix it, this is laughable stuff from such an expensive device

light conditions are good. I use the same position to compare both photos. Actually it looks like the common issue starting from iPhone 14 Pro, according the number of community discussions. Options are standard: Selfie camera, 1x zoom, no filters. My personal opinion the root cause is Apple Camera Post processing algorithm, for iPhone 14 pro and higher.

I just recently upgraded from the iphone 11pro max to the iphone 15 plus and I am considering returning the 15. There is a constanly blur behind me with the front facing camera even when portrait mode is turned off. After you take a photo on either cameras, its almost like there is automatic edit on it that I do not want. When will apple fix this? Should I downgrade?

have tried every setting, and it's impossible to fix. after talking with several others with the issue, it appears to also be worth for people with dark skin complexion (asian, indian, african-american, etc) - totally graying out their skin and making them appear darker and ghoul-like. one would think apple would take care to make sure their cameras work on dark skin tones too.
