IOS 17.1 Apple Music stops after a couple of songs on 6th Gen iPad

I was just able to update my 6th generation iPad to 17.2

so far the Music App works again!!! I’ve been able to listen to 5 songs without it freezing.

I will continue testing this afternoon

iOS 17.2 seems to work for my 6th generation iPad. Been listening for over an hour - no freezing. Playlists work.

17.2 fixed it for me on my 6th gen iPad.

17.2 got mine functional again but back to my previous ‘normal’ where it freezes up at least once per day. I had previously accepted this restart requirement but now, along with many of you, I don’t think we should have to.

Agree "Definitely some connection failure with the app and Apple servers." ,or home Wifi. When I turned offPrivate Wi-Fi Address and turned off Limit IP Address Tracking there was some noticible improvement but eventually song loading, playing would stop and require closing the Apple Mucic App.

In Music, In Siri & Search, turn off all. Learn from this App, Show App in Search, Show on Home Screen, Suggest App and Suggestion Notifications all please turn off. After this step, the Apple Music of my Ipad 6th Gen is working now!

I found out every time I did some adjustment in the Music setting, the Apple Music worked again for a while! :P

Guess we need the update from Apple to fix this matter!

It seems like the Music app can’t index music files on my iPad. If you go to Settings>General>iPad Storage it only shows 2GB or so of the 42GB of music files I have on my iPad.

I'm quite dissatisfied with my recent experience with Apple. After spending hours on the phone and in chat with them, my iPad ended up stuck in restore mode. Their solution was for me to visit an Apple Store for a fix. When I did, they had to revert to the previous operating system. The staff member was terrific with getting it back up and running, so I cannot blame him.

However, with a recent update, I find myself facing the same issue again. To be honest, it's incredibly frustrating, and it's making me consider dropping Apple Music.

Same issue with my iPad 7th gen Wi-Fi model 32gb, Apple Music app does not load through shortcut, after manually load I start a track only to stop playing after it ends , all music and shortcuts work normally on iPhone ,sometime the app starts but blank screen, if the track starts no album art, next it’s frozen only to be forced closed ; I have restored the device , alas no difference , would love to hear a response from Apple on this. Besides the usual “next update will fix the issue”.

I wonder the same thing! Even after spending hours with Apple Support they wouldn’t even admit that the problem was caused by the update, let alone offer any solutions. I finally ended the session with the comment “I guess I’ll just have to wait for the next update to fix it” and the woman agreed with me. Why am I paying for Apple Music then if I’m not able to listen to it? From what I’ve seen in online comments this problem was apparent in the beta version back in September. So why wasn’t it fixed before the wide release? Not impressed, Apple.

I turned off the Siri settings in the Music App preferences and things got incrementally more functional - not right by a long shot though

So I was lucky enough to get music playing - and I Force Quit the app… and music kept playing for another 20 seconds or so… WTF? Force Quit is supposed to override everything.

It’s like the operating system doesn’t have control. I’m not a software developer (analog chip design was my thing) - but it seems like the interrupt handler is broken.

I’m running a iPad 6th generation… Does anybody else see this behavior?

every time I’ve ever called apple support they try to help but they trouble shoot me like I’m a 10 year old

been using iOS since iPhones first launched a decade ago

I used to be able to just swipe up on it and the song would start working, but now nothing works. I guess I am just going to find 10 hour versions of the songs that I listen to while I sleep on YouTube!

I confirm… though it seems different. iOS 17.1.1 will play one song and stop… if I reboot it will play one song and stop. Before rebooting didn’t change the behavior
