IOS 17.1 Apple Music stops after a couple of songs on 6th Gen iPad

17.2 got mine functional again but back to my previous ‘normal’ where it freezes up at least once per day. I had previously accepted this restart requirement but now, along with many of you, I don’t think we should have to.

iOS 17.1. iPad 6th generation, 32GB. Apple Music fails to fully synch, may run for a few songs, and then stalls, stops entirely, sometimes opens and stalled immediatly. Reboot or reinstall did not help. Wiped iPad clean and did not change the result. iOS16 worked beautifully.

IOS 17.2 has fixed it in my case!

Don't wast your time with support .. we will have to "patiently" wait for next iOS update. These older iPads won't get the priority of an iPhone 15 ... for updates. Pushing us to newer models.

Apple Music was running fine on ipadOS 17.0.3. After installing 17.1, Apple Music stopped working properly. It will freeze after playing one song, I cannot advance to the next track, the app controls will not respond. I cannot pause the playing track either, I have to kill the app for the song to stop. I noticed my playlists behaving erratically. Sometimes the playlists are empty for no reason and the songs come up after I restart the app. I will often see Loading on the Browse or Radio sections. Definitely some connection failure with the app and Apple servers. My iPad is 7th generation.

Spoke to the Tier 2 tech today (Friday), same reply “the engineers are aware and working on a fix , that will be released in the next update”, insisted that was the same reply I got before 17.1.1 and that update did not fix the problem , agent apologized and said we have to wait.

I guess we Users have no other choice at this point.

Maybe success. After installing iPadOS 17.2. I was able to listen the Music App for about 1.5 hours - then it froze.

After doing a force quit - everything seems ok again - fingers crossed.

6th generation iPad - 128GB

Apple Tech Support confirmed the engineers are aware of the problem and are working on a solution , we just have to wait for the next update , which I hope is soon.

Go to Bluetooth > select which device you use > forget the device > re-pair the device, this is what worked for me

17 two seems to have addressed the issue after one hour of playing. Hope it continues. Thanks to everyone for speaking up.

Today’s update also fixed this for me, on my 6th gen iPad. Thankfully this is finally resolved!

Try 17.2. This will solve the problem.

Sorry that didn’t work for you. When I tried it, I added French to my languages, then removed it. Apple Music started working, and I got so excited. It only lasted for about an hour, and then froze up again. Everything I’ve tried only works temporarily, if at all. When I had the Apple Help person on the phone, she was connected with my iPad so she could see what I saw. She spent ages walking me through attempted fixes, most of which I had already tried on my own. We just ran out of things to try, so I gave up with no resolution. I’m used to glitches every time I upgrade, but never anything like this before.

Agree "Definitely some connection failure with the app and Apple servers." ,or home Wifi. When I turned offPrivate Wi-Fi Address and turned off Limit IP Address Tracking there was some noticible improvement but eventually song loading, playing would stop and require closing the Apple Mucic App.

In Music, In Siri & Search, turn off all. Learn from this App, Show App in Search, Show on Home Screen, Suggest App and Suggestion Notifications all please turn off. After this step, the Apple Music of my Ipad 6th Gen is working now!

Sorry! Now is not working again! Just working a while! :(

I found out every time I did some adjustment in the Music setting, the Apple Music worked again for a while! :P

Guess we need the update from Apple to fix this matter!
