IOS 17.1 Apple Music stops after a couple of songs on 6th Gen iPad

After upgrade to iOS 17.1, Apple Music freezes and stops. I’ve tried streaming and downloading, different Wi-Fi and I’ve just restored to factory with basic setup, no transfer, straight into music and it does the same. iPad 6th generation. Everything else works, it’s just music. Subscriber to Apple Music. Anyone else seeing this or have suggestions please?

17.2 has fixed this (utterly annoying) issue.

My critical post of Apple Music and their non existent handling of the now three week old service outage for iPad gen 6-9 (maybe more). Was taken down. Apparently I hurt their feelings! Yes today censorship is the weapon of choice for incompetence. Apple has time to read and take my post down but has no time to take ownership and communicate to its customers! This tells us all we need to know……….

Yep, me too. Even after the 17.1.2 update, Music is unusable on my 6th gen iPad. Works fine on my iPhone 15. I don't subscribe to apple music. I'm old, my music is local and sync'd from my Mac with a USB cable. Spent hours online with support. Restored backups, removed and re-loaded app, wiped iPad and just re-synched library - issue keeps coming back.

As I see it, digital music resurrected Apple. How they allowed this to happen, then fester for a month or more now is beyond me. Lucky for me I have a 3rd gen iPad running IOS9 that is not affected. ;P

Same. 6th gen iPad. Update 17.1.1 broke Apple Music. 17.1.2 didn't fix it. While I don't rely on the iPad for work or money, I use it for AirPlay to 3 devices. One of them being my main system with a Cambridge network streaming DAC that cost over a grand. It's beyond annoying and getting unacceptable that this still isn't taken care of.

I can technically use my MacBook or iPhone, it isn't nearly as convenient and I feel like my Apple Music subscription is currently neutered.

This needs to be a more important issue that is fixed ASAP. This is the first time I've had a major issue with Apple hardware or products and I'm extremely disappointed. If it isn't fixed soon, I'll be going back to Spotify. I just can't believe that this has happened in the first place, but that it's been 6+ weeks... Really?

It can be incredibly frustrating when support recommends a series of troubleshooting steps, and after investing hours trying to prove their suggested solution, it turns out not to work. If you prefer not to endure the unproductive support experience, I would recommend waiting for now. It would greatly enhance the customer experience if Apple could proactively acknowledge any issues and provide an estimated timeline for a fix.

Agreed! They created this issue……should be all hands on deck at Apple Music. Yesterday not working until iPad indicated iCloud was turned off. Turned it on, ran normal for a while, then nothing. My iPhone still works but has not had the dreaded update yet! Think I will avoid the update on phone for now……. Amazon music looking better all the time!

Apple Music! Urgent Issue!

Today is the day I finally move completely to Spotify. New iPhone 15 and with the latest update, songs appear as available but do nothing when clicked. Podcasts are “unavailable at this time.” Albums and playlists show as having no songs.

I’ve stuck with Apple all these years primarily because of my reliance on iTunes and Apple Music and not wanting to recreate my library on another platform. But the flipside is having issues when Apple fixes one issue only to create a new one. Maybe I’ll finally break up with Apple completely.
