Red audio symbol in iMessage text box

In only one of my text groups, I have this audio message symbol and I inadvertently sent a one-minute audio to a whole group of people (😬). Thank all that is holy I didn’t say anything bad or talk about anybody. I can’t figure out how to get rid of it!

Did anyone figure out how to remove the small red record audio icon that's right near the text message box, where you would type a message? I think it's too easy to hit accidentally. I have had dictation enabled for a long time, but cannot find a way to get the microphone icon back. I went to the plus sign and don't see it.

I don't want to have the red record icon right near the send button. It appeared there after I used the record feature once for a voice note and now won't go away. It's only affecting that the thread with that one person.

Hello!

Did you happen to follow the steps others have posted by clicking the microphone on the bottom?

If no microphone I did make a comment earlier:

If you don’t see the microphone icon on the bottom right, go to Settings > General > Keyboard and turn on “Enable Dictation”. In fact just turning on Dictation alone may get rid of the red audio symbol.

I believe it’s just a new feature/function, you can see it referenced in this article:

Send and receive audio messages on iPhone - Apple Support

If you’re still having troubles, let me know, or anyone else here, the results of those steps, glad to help if I can!

Hey there!

No worries. I believe I said to turn dictation on, not off, that should do it.

Once dictation is on, you should then see the microphone on the bottom right of the messages conversation, allowing you to tap on it.

If you still don’t, make sure you have Siri turned on in your settings.

If it still doesn’t show up, or if it’s greyed out, just make sure you’re not on any type of call, this will disable the feature.

If it’s still not working just let me know! Glad to help out as anyone here.
