iPhone 14 Pro slow after iOS 17.1 update

After installing the iOS 17.1 update, my whole environment is slower, especially browsing. Doesn’t matter if it’s Safari or Chrome. Delays, poor web performance, slow transitions between page updates…

as I use other apps, I see the lag.

Anyone else and if so, is there a good solution. I have messed with background refresh’s and motion settings but didn’t do anythIng.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro, original owner to the phone (no replacements). It’s on 17.1 right now, and I checked just now to see that there is a 17.1.1 available. I’m hoping this fixes the lag issues. I’m currently in a medium sized U.S. city with full 5G signal. Speed test is showing 90+ down and 25+ up, more than enough to stream simple videos, but getting repeated buffering. Restarted, cleared cache, all apps/tabs closed etc. Was experiencing Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay connectivity issues with my car earlier while driving. Also noticing that brightness and volume settings do not stay where you put them, even if you turn off automatic options (I dragged down the control panel and pulled my volume down to 0, and it immediately went back up unprompted, several times in a row). Very glitchy.

I have a 14 pro max original owner! and since the IOS update 17.1.1 my phone has been lagging and I got the Black Death screen and my phone was charged. I called my self phone rang black screen. A fix for the black screen was I pressed and quickly released volume up button then press n released the volume down button then I pressed and held down the side button on the right until Apple logo appeared! It fixed the black screen and my lag times got better I will try out all day to see if this works and I will confirm

running 17.3.1 and have been getting the same issues on my 14 pro and the wife's 15 pro since the 17 updates last year.

We have to keep restarting our phones as they wont respond.

Also had to turn off continuous text, as it kept changing words in sentences that grammatically speaking, made no sense at all.

you only discovered that the word you saw get entered had changed, after proof reading the entire message.

seems that Apple have done a good job at compromised their own system ! :(

Mine has been lagging horribley. And freezing. Apps won't work, I miss calls and texts. The phone gets hot and I was told by apple support that I had a software issue. They made a appointment for me at the Apple store where I waited longer then they even looked at my phone. The rep then pulls out the new Samsung galaxy and told me that's what I should have gotten. He only uses his iPhone for work purposes. Even being on the phone for 5 minutes it gets hot. My keyboard freezes and the talk to text I don't even use anymore because it makes me look uneducated and can't spell. If I say the word "THE" it will correct it to"T3E" far from normal yet I'm told nothing is wrong with my phone!

I'm also having these issues. I cleared all of my opened apps (which are only ever 3-5 apps max because I'm obsessive), I stopped all background apps from refreshing, and I've restarted my phone twice.

It's to the point where I can't open certain apps, and when my apps do work, they take a very long time to load.

Also, on FaceTime I am told that I am blurry from different people and on different days.

I have same issues on iPhone 14Pro Max , after iOS 17.2.1 update my screen very offten doesn’t accept touches so i have to repeat , its very unpleasant .

Also apps are opening slower then before and switching true apps is slower .

scrolling /swiping on the internet etc .. is kind of glitchy and have no precision like before update. Those are serious things , feeling like cheap device, why Apple let this , if you want us to stay with you fix that .

I used to work for Apple and in the years after Steve died, progressively it became all about money where I feel Jobs also ensured the money got you quality lasting luxury products.

Frankly with few exceptions I would say the hardware has continued to be good (although has started becoming irrelevant much sooner than previous models. Lots of money to spend every four years for instance, when I used to be able to get 8 years out of a high end model).

But to the point: what I learned at apple and over years is that you should never update until a few months after release to find out about crap like this (sometimes I wonder who gets paid to codd this crappy software: spend more time fixing these issues than adding new unnecessary features).

Also I never update any device beyond one OS past what it came with. And in this case I will be leaving iOS 16 on my iPhone 14 Pro. It’s working just fine.
