I made an audio recording in Logic Pro. I listened to it & saved it. Now, the next day it's gone. The file name is there in the list of recent projects available to open (right clicking on Logic in the dock shows it's there) but nothing happens when I select it. When I search for the song by title, I don't find it in my computer.

This has happened a few times. I thought I might have made a mistake saving, but this time I know I saved it and there would have been warnings if I didn't.

This has happened before but I've worked on a number of projects since without any trouble.

My only thought is I have just 31 GB left on my SSD - might that cause recent projects to get deleted / this kind of erratic behavior.

The template for saving has changed - is there a mistake I could make in saving that would save the name of the project but not the file?

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks,

Phil

Thank you yoyoBen!

I did clear some space, that didn't fix the problem but I think I may have figured it out. I use a template and save- as when I make songs.

At some point Logic offered two folders named "Logic" in which to save, one of them was on my SuperDuper back-up drive.

So, I was unknowingly saving my files to a folder on my backup drive, and the file got erased when back-up ran.

Is there a simple way (a setting in Logic or OS management) to prevent Logic Pro from offering folders on a back-up drive? I can just be careful but if I can set it up better I'd like to.

Thanks!

Sorry to hear. Learning how to search a file on a computer is a fundamental basic requirement. But having only 31 GB left on a drive is the most sure way to get corrupted files, not be able to work (not only with logic) and even not be able to copy files. It's recommended to have at least 10 to 15 % free space available.
