This is WhatsApp support told me.
patronizing to be honest.
Hi,
Thanks for your message.
It appears your device may be having a compatibility issue with WhatsApp's built-in voice messaging function. WhatsApp doesn't have unique volume settings, so all volume components including video playback volume, audio playback volume, and notifications are controlled entirely by your phone.
To troubleshoot audio issues, try the following:
- Toggle the volume button up to increase the volume.
- Close any apps on your phone might be using your audio output or voice playback.
- If your screen turns black when you listen to a voice message, your phone's proximity sensor might not be working. Please be sure the proximity sensor is not covered, and turn off all device specific smart screen features.
- Restart your phone or turn it off and on.
Note:
- Many phones have different volume settings for different types of media and notifications. Check your phone’s settings to adjust the volume for the type of media you’re trying to hear.
- To get help with proximity sensor issues, we recommend you contact your phone’s manufacturer.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We'll be happy to help!
