My iphone 15 won't scan QR codes

Those settings have to do with Assistive Touch and have nothing to do with scanning QR codes.

The key is, as mentioned, to make sure the code is in focus and it will scan instantly.

If a third-party app won't scan a code, it's entirely the fault of the third-party app's developer.

Not so…I have a iPhone 6, SE and 8 at my disposal and those devices DON’T have focus issues; bar codes are clear as crystal. I also tried the same apps on both of my iPads and again there are no issues. 

In my book, the focus issue is a BIG failure for Apple not only for placing the blame on others but because they haven’t addressed the problem to fix this issue. 

There are endless numbers of apps that can scan with zero issues from companies like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kroger, Scandit, Walgreens and Walmart.

If you find a company's app doesn't, contact them for assistance.

The key is to hold the phone far enough away so it can cleanly focus on the bar code, at least 200mm / 7.7".

In particular, the Safeway app does no visual or audio confirmation of a scan, instead it provides the results in an area below what you show in your video if set to "Deals" mode, as your app is.

To scan a product, you need to tap "Product" rather than "Deals."

For the lottery ticket, you are holding the phone too close to the ticket; hold the phone further away so it can focus on the ticket; you don't need to fill the box with the code.

experimente el mismo problema con la lectura de QR desde mi iPhone 15 pro Max. Pude resolverlo alejando un poco más el QR y este logró captarlo, quizá sea una excelente solución para los que entran aquí y ven el mismo problema. Ojalá Apple lo actualice a futuro con alguna nueva versión de iOS

Problem is that some in-app scanners don't allow you to have any control over focus, for example normally touching the subject you wish to focus on adjusts the focus, that feature does not exist for in-app scanning and sometimes it just never auto-focuses no matter the distance. Nest remote thermometers were the latest annoyance for me.

That's because there's nothing to fix.

If the camera can focus on the code, it's read instantly, every time.

If you hold the phone too close for it to be able to focus on the code, it will never work.

mine still won't go into macro mode. takes a while trying to get a good scan on very small qr codes. Would be way easier if they just sort out macro mode so we can get a good focus without other details to distract it

There is no fix to implement.

Simply hold your phone far enough away from the code for the camera to be able to focus on it.

What was described is how developers can fix their apps, which is the actual issue; some developers do not properly handle bar code scanning despite Apple's information to developers to tell them what to do.

I’ve tried to restart my phone and it is now working! Perhaps someone else need this. Just an update for my previous reply

Then make an appointment to have your phone examined, as there may be a defect as it definitely works on mine and every other I've tried.

My iPhone 13 mini can scan a bar code for vin#’s on automobiles no problem. My new iPhone 15 is making it harder to do my job not easier. Not happy Need a fix Apple!!!!

Does not work on my iPhone 13. Tried all the suggestions but still cannot scan the VIN # on my car.

the scanner on the iphone Pro Max 15 is horrible. Scanning was so easy on the iphone 11.

Tell move away from the code. This iPhone can scan or take picture clearly if you get too near. But get great pictures when you move it farther away.
