My iphone 15 won't scan QR codes

Since the new update 17.1.2 I haven’t been able to use my qr reader. I am not using a 3rd party app. Done the reset. Did the distance thing that I’ve read. Setting on read qr and always in photo. Nothing! It DID work before the update. So it has to be the new iOS?!?

ok so what you are saying is that when the app has perfectly chosen the right camera mode for ALL previous phone models perfectly, and then the new phone comes out that does not require a new app, and all the apps are suddenly choosing the wrong mode, that's not the phone developers doing... ok.

Also, when scanning a QR code, there is no version that makes sense to have to back the phone away 4 feet to get it in focus and the size of a postal stamp. We're sitting at a desk but have to get up from the desk and stand back to scan the QR on our screen. But this is "fine".

Any developer whose apps have not been updated to work with newer devices in over 2.5 years is not one whose apps you should use, that's the bottom line.

If you have no use for the enhancements and greater quality of the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max camera system, then the SE may be a better choice for you, which is the precise reason Apple has a refund policy.

It's easy to say that and dismiss the responsibility of the hardware/software manufacturer, but when all these apps work perfectly on a previous version of the device, and then the manufacturer releases a new device and with NO CHANGES to the apps or specified necessary by the manufacturer, all these 'third party' apps fail in the same way, that excuse is no longer worthy of any consideration.

That's like saying if a car manufacturer swaps the gas and brake pedals in a car but tells no one and a bunch of people crash, it's the fault of the drivers. It's false, dismissive, and far from helpful.

I wish that I didn’t trade in my 12, that phone scanned QR’s and barcodes without issue. This 15 Pro isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Just a gimmick the camera is movie quality, like I needed that. But simple scanning it can’t do. I need a phone to scan for my business, if Apple isn’t going to correct it soon I need to make a decision, can’t wait. Looks like they’ve known about it a long time.

I have the very same issue and it’s gone on for FAR TOO LONG. It is extremely frustrating to always have to find ways to work around this defect. This is a blemish on Apple’s reputation. Remember the old Apple slogan? “It just works.” Well, not so much anymore.

My iPhone 13 mini can scan a bar code for vin#’s on automobiles no problem. My new iPhone 15 is making it harder to do my job not easier. Not happy Need a fix Apple!!!!

I have the same issues i thoughts with the new iphone 15 pro it will be resolved but unfortunately i cannot scan any barcorde except the QR CODE BIG FORMAT

For what this phone costs it’s unacceptable that i can’t scan my coupon codes at Safeway. Or anything else.

Does not work on my iPhone 13. Tried all the suggestions but still cannot scan the VIN # on my car.

the scanner on the iphone Pro Max 15 is horrible. Scanning was so easy on the iphone 11.

My iPhone 15 Pro Max is very bad at scanning bar codes. Very difficult to use for grocery shopping. Come on Apple sort this issue!!!
