Microphone not working when plugged to AUX on iPhone 15 Pro Max

I recently upgraded to an iphone 15 pro max. With my iphone 13, I used to have a lightning to AUX cable in my car which enables music/ sound to play the iphone through the speakers and enable me to take calls handsfree. I replaced this with a USB- C to AUX cable (to suit the iphone 15) and the music/ sound plays through the sound system fine, however the microphone no longer works (i.e. answer calls and person on the other side cannot hear me). It also has disabled Siri- if I say "hey Siri" this isn't recognised. Please help how to enable the microphone

Thank you so much!!! That worked. To quickly summarize: Settings-sound & haptics-headphone safety-select “forget all USB audio accessories,” and when prompted “Headphones or other devices,” select “headphones.” JTABAREJO, you are my hero!

Apple gave us a product that was not ready for consumer use. Apple fix this problem or I will never buy another of your phones!! I believed in Apple Iphones from the start in early 2000 when i bought the iphone 3. But you need to stop deleting my comments about how I believe Apple is using the public when their devices are not really ready for the road. How dare you stop one of tge most basic functions that made the phone useful for using when driving a car. This is almost as bad as the software for self driving cars like tesla. Fix this problem or lose me.

Is Apple using us as Bata testers for Iphone 15 Pro?

My problem is using USBC to auxilliary jack (male) connector cable:

1) Plays music audio output very well through my connector and auto sound system.

2) Does NOT play phone audio output AT ALL!!!!!!!!

3) No, there is no Iphone Menu option that pops up to ask me which system I want the sound to come through. Well there is and there is only two options when it does pop up and those options are a) Iphone, or b) speaker, buit not the car system.

3) This system worked excellent Through my older Iphones including my Iphone 13 Pro that I traded in for the lemon phone. I'd really like to have my Iphone 13 Pro back if Iphone 15 Pro is incapable of playing through the aforemention system.

APPLE this is a safety hazard if I can't use my phone hands free and all your older phones worked just fine.

Please tell me how to fix this problem.

I’m having the same issue. I had been using

my previous iPhones in my older vehicle by plugging my phone into the cassette deck adapter using a lightning to 3.5mm dongle. It worked great for playing music and phone call audio through my car speakers. Now, with 15 Plus, I can still get music through this connection (USB-C to 3.5mm), but call audio will no longer go through the car speakers. This makes it a big hassle to try and use speaker phone while driving, since it doesn’t really go loud enough. Hopefully Apple can get a fix for this soon.

Microphone is not working when plugged into AUX on iPhone 15 Pro MaxI’ve used the this type of adapter when I had the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It’s important to me that I’m able to use my iPhone 15 Pro Max handsfree when driving. Playing music works just fine, but when trying to use the “Hey Siri” feature to make calls or to text, it does not work.

It’s extremely disappointing and frustrating!

Does anyone know of an adapter that works?

Is this an Apple issue that can or will fixed?

I have a similar problem. I have a iPhone 15 Pro Max and I have many Apple ear buds with 3.5m connectors that I wanted to use with the 15 Pro but I have not found a 3.5m to usb-c connector adapter that truly works. I have tried the ones listed in these responses and others and found the sound is OK, the pause and Siri feature work but the real problem is none of these adapters support the volume control on the ear buds. I also have several Apple ear buds with the lightning connector and tried a different adapter and found the same issue.

Has anyone come up with either a 3.5m or lightning to usb-c adapter to support volume? I use these mostly for workouts and yard work so the mic is not really a priority.

I was previously using Peterson iStrobosoft app on my iPhone 6 via the headphone jack as a direct input to tune my guitars. No issues at all. I just bought an iPhone 15 Pro and using the Apple 3.5mm jack to USB adapter it seemed to be working as before, and then not. On first plug in - nothing. Then all of a sudden it was working. The next time I plugged in I got the pop up asking if it is a headphone or other device. I selected ‘other’ and it was working fine. Later, when I went to tune my electric 6 string it was not accepting the input. Then when I plugged in my bass, which has an active pickup, it was suddenly working again - with both guitars! On my latest attempt I cant get it to accept any input from either guitar, hence I sought advice from this community.

I tried adjusting in the Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety > USB Audio Accessories, as suggested here, but to no avail. The phone seems to recognise when my headphones are plugged in (although the pop-up seeks confirmation), but nothing registers when the Peterson Adaptor is connected (via the Apple adapter).

So I think this has to be a software glitch with the phone itself.
