How do I know which generation my iPhone SE is?
I need to buy a charging cable but can’t identify which generation my phone is.

Go to Settings > General > About, and then tap the Model Number.
Generation 3 is A2595, A2782, A2784, A2785, or A2783 .
Generation 2 is A2275, A2298, or A2296.
Generation 1 is A1723, A1662, or A1724 stamped on the back cover.

That is so weird . . . and unintuitive. What were they thinking?
Mine says "MHGU3J/A", and then changes to "A2296".
As for charging options:
SE 1st Gen
SE 2nd gen Wireless charging (works with Qi chargers)
SE 3rd Gen
My 2nd Gen SE came with a 20 W charger, and a Type C to Lightning cable, but it was a refurb from Amazon.
I do not think they are all that fussy, but I suppose if you can take advantage of Fast-charge, then go for the 20 W power supplies.
It works with the 5 volt Type A USB power ports in generic power bars and the 12-volt automotive adaptors too.

When I get to the model, it just says iPhone SE. Tapping on this yields nothing further - no “A” number.
You're tapping on "Model Name". You need to tap on "Model Number." It's the thing right below that. Even the number that shows as default should give you the information if you type it into a search engine.
The serial # is F1**********. Can you tell me what series it is?
No.
Are you following the instructions above to......
Tap Settings > General > About > Model Number
When you tap directly on the Model Number another number like Axxxx will appear
It really doesn’t matter as they all use a lightning connector.
As a matter of fact, every single iPhone ever released, going back to 2007, has an internal SIM card.
Wrong.
Look at the specifications for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 versions sold in the U.S. to confirm that these phones are eSIM only. There is no internal SIM card in any of these models.
Is eSIM housed in the cloud somewhere? I believe they are internally stored on the phone.
Or are we talking semantics about the word "card" here? If that's the case, yes, I should have left the word "card" off.

The poster who first mentioned "internal" SIM fairly obviously meant "eSIM".
But no, not every iPhone ever made had a SIM card (regardless of what you call it). The iPhone 4 CDMA model, released April 28, 2011 had no SIM of any kind.

At a guess, something along the lines of "these are two pieces of information that people hardly ever need so let's not clutter up the interface with two lines."

If your iPhone was stolen, the chances are that you will never see it again. Even if you see its location using Find My, you could let police know the location – but it would be very unwise to travel there yourself. The criminals at that location might be people who would do you bodily harm, or even murder you.
It is a good idea to mark a stolen phone as Lost.

If you are telling us that the stolen phone is no longer associated with your Apple ID, then there is no way to use Find My to mark it as Lost, to request a remote Erase, or to track it.
It sounds like you think you know who stole the phone. If you or your friend have hard evidence, that might be a matter to bring to the attention of the local authorities. However, neither we (your fellow users on this board) or Apple will get involved with that.
Thank you!
