How do I know which generation my iPhone SE is?
I need to buy a charging cable but can’t identify which generation my phone is.
iPhone SE, iOS 16

Settings>General>About>Model... double tap there until you see an "Axxxx" code (where xxxx are four numbers).

One difference is that the Gen 3 has an internal SIM card so it’s helpful to know that aspect . I like the lightning connector. Although sometimes they do become oxidized and fail to charge.
I received a used phone and I ordered a SE generation 3 I cannot tell if its 2or 3
the model number does not come up
That's not correct. Every generation has an internal SIM card. As a matter of fact, every single iPhone ever released, going back to 2007, has an internal SIM card.
The model number of my iPhone SE doesn't have any of those... is there another way to tell?
When I get to the model, it just says iPhone SE. Tapping on this yields nothing further - no “A” number.
The serial # is F1**********. Can you tell me what series it is?
