Apple Music app freezes after 17.1 update on my iPad

After updating to 17.1 on my iPad Gen 6, the Apple Music app freezes almost immediately upon opening.

Numerous calls to Apple support have been useless: I have deleted and reinstalled the app, hard-restarted the iPad numerous times, completely erased and set up my iPad as new, and still the Music app freezes up.

Naturally I had just paid for entire year’s subscription too.

The app works fine on my iPhone.

Anyone else have this problem after updating?

Here's the solution that worked for me.

Go to Music and DUPLICATE your play list, then delete the original.

Sync to NEW playlist only.

I had the same problem. Went as far as buying 10th gen iPad because I was out of memory anyway, however the problem was still there. Did the above and all is well.

Then updated iPhone SE to 17.1 and had same problem with music. Followed the above and that now works also. Hope all of you have the same results.

Glad it worked for you but don't get too excited. I tried that, the new playlist loaded and played ONCE then the new playlist joined the others that are FUBAR. This is getting totally ridiculous and frustrating especially at holiday time when I want to listen to my holiday music playlists. Thank goodness I have Amazon and SiriusXM. Sure wish Apple would get their act together. Has something infiltrated Silicon Valley?

Well I’m curious to know if you are still having these infuriating issues with the music app. It’s Dec.2 and mine is a worthless brick when trying to use the Apple Music app. Sometimes I’ll get a song or a few songs if I get the chance to actually pick something which is a hit or miss option that depends on restarting the app several times. Mostly it’s the worst experience with a music app I’ve ever dealt with. Basically doesn’t work at all like it worked before the 17 update. Why they must continuously update and fix what isn’t broken in the first place leaving us with garbage is something only the big brained coders at Apple can answer. I have massive amounts of paid for music through iTunes, Apple needs to get this huge failure fixed ASAP!

Tech bros running things and those guys are rich overconfident morons. Their high exalted guru is Elon Musk and look at what a failure that guy is. Rich beyond belief but an idgit just the same. I just think a lot of these guys have the same lack of business ethics and consideration for the customer as Elon. Seems like so many of these tech companies don’t even try to communicate honestly with their customer base anymore,

Well Steve jobs would lol apple world leaders in making products software force up sales problem is we all accept these things from all company’s can’t listern to your music buy a new iPad … does that feel wrong they don’t care … we will go and do their bidding we always do.. but our cars run on software now so when they think our new cars need replaced they will just do the same but instead of no making your music work it will be car … and yes Steve jobs made this world where they can force us to upgrade he would not be turning in his grave this control of us was his goal

I considered switching from youtube music to apple music, because of the apple+ package.

Apple Music is working on my devices, except for the ipad, which i use while working. This is a big no no for me.

Is there a fix on the horizon? It is kind of lame, that i can use every other music streaming app, except for the one from apple.

No excuses. This really is a deal breaker.

It’s happening to me with 2 iPhones, an 11 and a brand new 13, the music just stops unexpectedly and when I hit play it starts from the beginning. No one from Apple Support has helped me out. The problem isn’t fixed with iOs 17.3, sadly.

Which iPad model do you have? So strange that restoring it from iTunes didn’t work for you, this is really bad, that method should fix all these bugs. How did you set it up after restoring?
