Cast button on youtube not working properly with new iOS 17

I've run into this issue a few times before. At the beginning, I fixed it by deleting the YouTube app and then downloading it again, which worked once. But later, the same problem with casting videos popped up again, and doing the reinstall thing didn't work anymore. I'm not really sure what's going wrong.

Now, to watch YouTube, I just mirror my screen. I use apps like DoCast, Replica, TV Mirror, and Airbeam for that. I connect my iPad to my Chromecast using one of these apps, pick the mirroring option, and then just open up YouTube.

I think I found a temporary solution. Press the cast button then without leaving the youtube app open control center and turn off and on the wifi icon. after that you can go back to youtube and then list of devices immediately appears.

I have this problem on my iphone too.

Same issue here. iPhone 11 or 15 with the same issue. Most likely iOS related. Only affects YouTube. Netflix is fine without delay.

Not sure what happened. But this problem seems to have resolved itself recently on my phone.

I have noticed this issue only with Youtube but other apps are working

I’ve been tearing my hair out for the past 2 nights trying to work out why my phone stops casting. I did update it to iOS 17.4.1 two days ago.

Turning WiFi off and on did the trick in allowing me to cast YT again but I cannot sign into my YT account on my LG tv because all 3 methods of google authentication fail (when tried on my phone at least) with either error messages or “something went wrong” honestly at this point I feel it’s just 2 kids in the playground ignoring each other because they can’t get along, Pretty awful. I just want to use my phone as a YouTube remote. Sort it out Apple and YouTube!

come to think of it, if I use Spotify connect to stream music to my network player, that desyncs frequently too. Could it be something to do with apple’s new obsession with stopping background processes when the screen isn’t on? (I could only

download songs on Spotify when the app was open and screen on otherwise it would pause)

I have Exactly same problem, suddently cant Connect youtube from my iphone, Youtube just hangs on the logo.

I have deleted and reinstalled everything, nothing seems to fix this problem, I use Youtube everyday, bit last 3 weeks, it dosnt work.

Go to Settings > YouTube (or whatever app that has casting abilities) > Turn on Local Network

This should allow you to cast to your devices on the same network.
