Widex Moment 440 hearing aids won't work with macOS Sonoma

I have new Widex Moment 440 hearing aids and an M1 MacBook Pro running Mac OS 14. Mac won't recognize my MFi hearing aids when I try to pair them and Apple Support doc, List of Made for iPhone hearing devices - Apple Support indicates only hearing aids with "bidirectional streaming" will work with Sonoma. Why is "bidirectional streaming" necessary for a Mac but not for iOS devices?

We are end users like you, not Apple, so we cannot answer "why" question on Apple's behalf unless they have published the reason.

That sounds more like a question for Widex first, since the Apple article shows none of their products as compatible with Mac computers. It has always been the burden of accessory makers to make theirs product work with devices, not the other way around.

Someone at Widex appears to have made the decision not to support macOS. Neither Apple nor your fellow end users can answer that.

You will likely have to add a TV streamer device to your Mac, using a wired output. Then pair your hearing-aids with the streamer device. Same way as with your TV set, if desired.

Hearing aids do not 'pair' and connect directly to your TV set or your Mac.

(they do not connect directly to your iPhone, either, without having your hearing-Aid maker's software installed in the iPhone or android phone.)

Generally speaking you connect your hearing aids to your iPhone and run an App to CONTROL your hearing Aids from your phone. You can change to restaurant mode or Mute, among other things.

In addition, you can route calls, podcasts or other on-iPhone Audio to your hearing aids.

This is considered the ideal way to control them because your iPhone is like a universal hand-held remote control AND a call center when used this way.

Conversely, unless you want to hear the Bong when you make a mistake, crystal clear and right inside your head, Your Mac has almost nothing to say to your hearing Aids. That is can stream audio and pick up the microphone is really all that most users need.

Honestly, ¿what more would you like that you cannot already get, and better, from your phone?

"Your Mac has almost nothing to say to your hearing Aids."

I am on a lot of Zoom video/audio meetings all day. Due to ease while working, I use the Zoom app on my Macbook Air (2022, M2 chip running Sonoma 14.4.1) to take all these meetings. My hearing aids (Widex MOMENT SmartRIC 330) do not have an asterisk next to their name on that Apple list (nor are they even listed since they're so new) so they don't connect via bluetooth to my laptop.

I would LOVE to be able to stream the Zoom audio on my laptop directly to my hearing aids . Yes, with my aids connected to my iPhone, I put the microphone near my laptop so I can hear the Zoom audio via LiveListen on the iPhone. The problem with this is that there is an echo/repeat in my hearing aids when someone else speaks or when I speak.

I'd also have the laptop set up to take phone calls and Facetime videos that come in through my iPhone. I'd also love to be able to stream calls and Facetime's directly to my hearing aids as well.

Any solutions or suggestions to rectify this issue(s)?
