iPhone keeps asking for Outlook password

Install the Microsoft Edge app and sign in to your Microsoft account. This will automatically establish a connection between your iPhone and your Microsoft account. Worked for me.

I was having the same issue where I am prompted for PW constantly. I have IPhone 13 pro max & IOS 17.1.1.

Probably jinxing it but I went to settings - mail - privacy protection... unchecked "protect mail activity"

Works for now 🤞

This situation was happening me with my outlook accounts across my MacBook, iMac and iPhone. What fixed it for me was deleting each of the accounts and re adding them. However, on my MacBook and iMac I added the outlook accounts as 'Microsoft Exchange' and on my iPhone I added it as 'Outlook'. Hope this helps some people out.

Sounds like a Microsoft issue, report it to them.

If you're using apple mail app or a 3rd party app, you'll probably need to use app specific password to access the account.

You can use Outlook mail and only need to authenticate once when you add the account.

RESOLVED for me, anyway (read below)! Ok...this drove me absolutely nuts! My 14 Pro Max was replaced under warranty...a phone I had not updated since it was new a year ago (sorry but if it ain't broke I'm not updating and even if it is, I think 5 times before updating-too many times features are lost in updates!!!). I love how we are told it is a hotmail/Microsoft issue...that is completely wrong...none of my older iphones have problems...they are not on ios17xxx@! I don't like having to install apps that I don't plan to use just to fix problems, but in this case I did. I have 8 different hotmail accounts and every time I would open the mail app on my iPhone it would blow up with re-enter password prompts TWICE for each of them!!! I would hit cancel on each and they would pop up again for each. Ok, here's what worked for me:

(iPhone 14 Pro Max running IOS 17.0.1)

1) SETTINGS --> GENERAL --> TRANSFER OR RESET IPHONE --> RESET --> RESET NETWORK SETTINGS

2) Install EDGE from App Store, add hotmail accounts in EDGE; checking 'stay logged in on this device' for each

3) SETTINGS --> MAIL --> ACCOUNTS --> re enter passwords for each affected account.

4) Tested, all working fine.

5) Delete EDGE app.

All working fine since...why, I am not sure?! (crossing my fingers)

It turned out that the password request came back on my Ipad about 24 hours after I had it fixed by turning off "Mail" in the settings for the Exchange account, rebooted and turned on "Mail" again.

So now I deactivated the Exchange account, and added my outlook.com mail as an Outlook.com account on the apple mail app instead (as I had successfully on my Iphone) and it has worked on the Ipad as well so far.

This is what worked for me.. at least it is working right now.

I also have the Microsoft Authenticator. For this MS email, I disabled autofill from the Authenticator settings. Ever since, the prompt has not returned.

My issues on my 2 Hotmail accounts was resolved by installing the Outlook app from the apple store and using it as a mail application instead of the iPhone mail app.

Yes delete all the accounts from the mail settings and just use the Outlook app from Microsoft that is in the Apple store

i am 2+ days since I did this fix without a reoccurrence

delete outlook account in mail. Recreate account using last option which is other. Solved my problem

Ok Guy's...Figured it out...Go to Mail, Accounts, hit Fetch New Data...you will see that for some reason Outlook is set to Push so change to Fetch! That worked for me!!!
