MagSafe charger got super hot and iPhone 14 was just as hot. Stopped charging at 75%. Removed phone from charger and phone lost all its charge within the hour. Never happened before. Travelling on train, so I’m wondering if power source was issue.

Plugged phone into different outlet using the port, not MagSafe and phone charged normally.

It is possible that the power source on the train was the issue, as you have suggested. MagSafe chargers are more sensitive to power fluctuations than traditional wired chargers. If the power source on the train was unstable, it could have caused the MagSafe charger to overheat and the iPhone 14 to lose its charge.

It is also possible that there is a problem with the MagSafe charger itself. If the charger is damaged or defective, it could cause it to overheat and overcharge the iPhone 14. This could also cause the battery to drain quickly.

Here are some things you can do to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Try charging your iPhone 14 with the MagSafe charger again using a different power source. If the charger overheats again, then it is likely defective and needs to be replaced.
  • Try charging your iPhone 14 with a traditional wired charger. If the phone charges normally, then the problem is likely with the MagSafe charger.
  • If you have another MagSafe charger, try using that to charge your iPhone 14. If the charger does not overheat, then the problem is likely with the original MagSafe charger.

If you have tried all of the above and the problem persists, then you may need to contact Apple Support for further assistance.

Here are some additional tips to help prevent your MagSafe charger from overheating:

  • Keep the charger clean and free of dust and debris.
  • Avoid using the charger in direct sunlight or in hot environments.
  • Do not use the charger while it is in a case.
  • Do not use the charger if it is damaged or defective.
