does flashlight damage iphone sensor and display

I used the flashlight from another device to check if there’s any dust on my iPhone typically at the front cam side and back cam. Not sure if this does any damage to the display sensor or cameras, I heard that laser causes thin lines on display. That’s why asking if this is similar to it and whether I should avoid doing so in the future.

"I didn’t quite get what you were talking about ghost images? The flashlight was close but not too close. So how can I know if it caused any damage or not ?"

Finding a Ghost Image:

Take a Photo of a single color that has no shadow or reflection. The back of a white posterboard would do just fine. So, maybe stop by a retailer, and take a photo of one. See if a ghost imaage shows.

Gost Images:

Just how close was this flashlight? Penetrating heat would cause issues, as well as direct light. An example would be taking a photo of the sun(which is not recommended). You'd fry the sense cap and my get a ghost image.

Troubleshooting an iSight Camera:

Without a ghost image, then you would be all set. So, from here, I would say let it sit. But, if you rely on this quite a bit, then see about getting this diagnosed and/or serviced.

Getting your iPhone Serviced:

If you've had this issue since you've owned the iPhone, then it seem you have a faulty device. So, get the serviced, seeing if the solution all comes down to getting a new iSight Camera.

A. Take to an Appel store:

You'd setup a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store, taking it in for service. There, it will be diagnosed, and you'll be provided with your options.

Or...

B. Take this to an AASP:

See an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) in your local area...

Contacting an AASP:

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to fix the iPhone
