Is your MacBook on wifi or on 5G cellular via a hotspot/tethering? That is quite a difference, so if you have a 5G printer that is not on your wifi network, you will need to connect the MacBook via a hotspot to 5G
I am assuming that you actually mean 5GHz WiFi band and not 5G cellular.
Have you properly set up the Epson printer using onboard controls for WiFi and Apple AirPrint? The instructions for WiFi setup can be somewhat confusing in the Epson docs and is easy to get wrong.
Have you downloaded the proper software/drivers for your Mac for use on WiFi? My Epson XP-4200 had two separate downloads, one for connecting via WiFi and one for connecting via USB. Why they made it so difficult only Epson knows. For just printing, if the printer is set up correctly, you should be able to access via AirPrint with no drivers. However, for scanning you will need the Epson drivers.
