iPhone 15 pro not charging on wireless charger in my cars

The thickness of the lenses on the iPhone 15 Pro and different location of the charging disc in the new phone may prevent it from working with the charger in your Audi; consult your Audi dealer for more information.

(In particular, if you search the Internet you will find Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy owners complaining of issues with wireless charging in Audis as well.)

To check whether it might be an alignment issue, try placing your phone on your charger flipped 180º from the normal direction you use and see if it charges then.

Note in each post I say to "check with" or "contact" your auto dealer, not to "go to" as you claim.

Further, not every auto can update over the air and in fact most still cannot.

Finally multiple users have reported that iOS updates did not fix their issue but a firmware update for their car did.

My 3rd update on this. Out of the case my iPhone 15pro charges… but only until it overheats which is quickly then of course it stops.

i think that the issue has to do with the way that the phone is managing the charge on the wireless somehow. 10/12 Pro/ 14 Pro all charge just fine… they get warm but do not overheat. Maybe the titanium somehow… I don’t know but it is definitely a unique issue to the 15 Pro

If you purchased it from Apple or many other retailers you have 14 days to return it for a full refund.

However, if you do an internet search you will find similar complaints about all premium smartphones as auto makers made bad assumptions about where the charge coils would be on phones; the Qi standard doesn't specify placement.

I have a 2024 Honda CRV Hybrid. I use an iPhone 15 Pro. I have experienced this wireless charging issue as well. Today, I installed IOS 17.3. Tried it in my CRV for a few minutes without any issue. Hopefully this is the fix we've all been waiting for. My next drive (longer than a few minutes) will determine if this bug is truly fixed.

I was having the same problem with my wireless charger ant home. I’m all up to date with my iPhone 15 Pro. I just had to unplug the wireless charger and plug it back in. Now everything is working properly.

It’s working now with my New IOS update. Now is working on my blazer 2024

I have an extensive case working with apple on this issue. My issue started with 17.1

They have captured the logs from my phone and have requested that I send my phone in. They are aware that it is a SW issue. 17.1.1 didn’t fix it either. Hopefully they will have a fix soon.

Different form factor that didn't have the lenses on the back.

The bottom line is that automakers made bad assumptions about the size and layout of future phones and reality didn't match their assumptions.

Owners of other brand premium smartphones have the same issues.

Apple told me that there is a strong possibility the charging wire doesn’t support the voltage the iPhone 15 requires. They suggested a 40-60watt wire. Most wires don’t list their wattage support but some will say “boost” or something like that.

Also suggested the fuse in the cars may not be strong enough to support the new phones.

I will follow up when I try a new wire from Apple.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 15. My theory is because the camera lenses are raised and don’t allow it to lay flat enough to properly connect. I can wireless charge on the circle shaped chargers but ones in cars or like in couches I cannot.

I just bought 2 brand new iPhone 15s

Both phones refuse to charge on the charge pads in my 2023 Tesla Model 3 or in my 2022 Honda Accord. It is not the charge pads. It is the phone!!

The phones hook up to the chargers then immediately disconnect. We had XRs before this and they charged perfectly.

Please fix this issue Apple!!! SOON!!

It sounds like there might be a compatibility issue between your new iPhone 15 Pro and your 2022 GMC's wireless charging setup. Have you checked if there's any software update available for either your phone or the car? Sometimes updates can resolve these kinds of issues.

17.2 fixed the issue for me.

I have a new IPhone 15 Pro Max that will not do wireless charging in an ESR Case but works without the case.

I have a 2021 Genesis G80 car.
