pairing Samsung tv remote to Apple TV box

Until yesterday my Samsung smart remote could operate the Apple TV box but now it’s just stopped working. It won’t even pair, it’s like it’s not receiving the infrared although the remote works fine controlling the tv.

Ive unplugged, waited and reconnected - no change.

I’ve toggled the different settings as mentioned on forums, nothing. Nothing at all is working.

To recap, the tv remote works fine with the tv and the Apple Remote works fine within the Apple TV setting.

Going out of my mind because I cannot for the life of me work out why it’s stopped working or how to fix it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

***SOLVED***

I found a resolution for this issue. Apparently the device can unregister itself without notice and needs to be re-registered. Here is a link to the Samsung page where you find instructions on how to re-register the remote. Once I did this, my remote worked with the Apple TV again. Finally. Hope this helps those having issues with using a Samsung remote with your Apple TV.

FOUND THE SOLUTION ON HOW TO PAIR TV REMOTE TO APPLE TV:

on the Apple TV go to settings:

click on remotes, click learn remote, follow steps it asks with tv remote you want to pair, name the remote, then it’s finished and paired.

I’ve been searching for this because sometimes my tv will automatically pair my samsung tv remote where I can use it in place of my Apple TV remote and sometimes when my Apple TV gets unplugged and plugged back in, the tv remotes stops working as an Apple TV remote. No forums I googled sound an answer and the link provided in this solution didn’t help either however I searched this on YouTube and was able to fix the issue. I’ll also link the YouTube video that fixed it:

hope that will help others as well ☺️

I have a solution that worked for me after MANY hours of struggle. You have to reset your Apple TV entirely, back to factory settings. Then when you first connect via HDMI to Samsung, you have to try not to set it up. Just connect it and it will hopefully recognize and work. I do have HDMI CEC active and input signal plus selected for the port but not sure if that makes a difference. The real difference was working on the Apple TV device and leaving Samsung alone. Resetting does make you have to log in to all your apps again, but to get the Samsung remote to work with ATV was worth it. Good luck!

Had the same problem this morning. So I unplugged my Apple TV 4K third generation and left it unplugged for five minutes when I plugged it back in and turned on my Samsung Q90 C and the Apple TV 4K box, everything worked. I can now control my Apple TV with my Samsung smart remote once again. Not sure what the problem is or what causes it but that certainly fixed it for me..
