that is it. i brought it to a walmart tech shop and the charged me 120 to fix. took 10 minutes or less. they say is is very common problem they are seeing alot. connection pushes in on the board and usb-c won’t fully reach or connect.

Any idea what Walmart did to it?

You should ask them and post the solution here to potentially save everyone having this issue some money, if it isn't too difficult. I am assuming if a Walmart tech fixed it in 10 minutes it cannot be too terribly hard to do.

Probably a foreign object mine just did a similar thing. I fished around with mini qtip used a magnifying glass w/light (like a jeweler would have) turned it off flushed with alcohol. Wasn’t till i fished around with plastic dental flosser object revealed itself in negative space around charger . Once dislodged everything was snug and cords would fit once again and it Started to charge normally as well.

I have a new 15 Pro and the same issues with USB-C cables. The non-propietary cable I use with my computer works fine with my iPad. It does not work with my phone. We have USB-C cables all over the house because my husband is Android and my new kindle is also USB-C. The cable that came with my computer (too short to be useful with the MacBook Pro) works great with the phone. I have a very short cable that I use with my power bank that works with my phone. Weird. There's a cable in my husband's stash that also works. Many don't, so we took a closer look.

It also seems that my Apple case may be a factor. Some cables have a larger grip for the plug that the opening in the case and won't go in. Slimmer grips/handles give me that satisfying click on my phone. You can see it in the picture. There's quite a difference in the size of the grip for the plug. If you have a case on the phone, it could be blocking the plug. FWIW, the case on my iPad doesn't seem to do that.

Same problem. Solved issue.

nip charging cable ends together a bit. I used my teeth, then it fits tight with a click again. Make sue cable dry when plugging in.

The middle prong on the port seems much thinner than other devices.

one of the previous posters said they angle grinded the end. This made me wonder if it had squeezed the end of plug tighter together in the process.

I feel like the new charging port isn’t as stable as the old lightning ports. I have the 15 pro and got it shortly after release and have been gentle with it since. But I’ve already noticed that the charger wiggles when plugged in. I have an appointment with a technician soon and hopefully they fix it under warranty because a new phone that costs several hundred dollars shouldn’t be having issues like this yet.

I have the same issue (loose USB-C connection) and I'm pretty convinced is a design flaw in the iPhone 15 (Pro) itself. Here's why:

(1) I only have the problem with the iPhone. The same cable works fine with my iPad Pro.

(2) I have tried both the Apple and 3rd party cables with the iPhone. They all have the same issue.

(3) My wife also had an iPhone 15 Pro and has the same problem.

Assuming I am correct (or even if I am not), I am not sure how to proceed? I suspect calling Apple won't help much. Has anyone had success in resolving this?

Yes iam going through same thing on my 15 promax I got it in may and by late June like over night charging cable doesn’t snap on all the way . I have to push hard and wiggle it to charge. I guess apple will fix it or I might buy a wireless charger but yes first time it ever happened with an iPhone of mine never had problem with fire wire. But who knows I mean I never had problem with usb c on Samsung or pixel in past. The apple and other usb c cables look different like apples is a more narrow slot where as my oixel and Samsung both have a wider opening at the head of the cable so I have used both interchangeable maybe that caused the issue I thought usb c was all the same until I looked at android and apples design and there different maybe that caused my issue no idea
