How to change photos from HEIF to jpg
I took pic’s with the iPhone and sent them to my iMac. They all went into download just fine but are tagged as HEIF images. How do I change them to jpg?
iPhone 12, iOS 17

HEIF is a newer (only 10 years old) image format standard that results in higher image quality and smaller size than JPG. Unfortunately, many older apps and most web pages still can’t use it. When you send or export HEIF it will automatically be converted to JPG. You can also export individual images as JPG using the Photo app on your iPhone or Mac.
You can set up your iPhone so that new photos and videos use the old JPEG and H.264 formats.
Settings > Camera > Format lets you choose between "High Efficiency" and "Most Compatible".

It’s not removed.
Go to settings -> camera-> formats. Under section camera capture you have the possibility to choose High Efficiency (Heif/Hevc) or Most compatible (JPEG/H.264).
That setting was removed in iOS 17.
hi, thanks for letting me no.
Was this an oversight on Apple's part or was it removed on purpose?
Yeah, sorry. I was asking Lawrence about the removal comment he made.
It’s there in 17.4, so probably an oversight.
Great! I've been hanging around on iOS16 waiting for this to be fixed. Thanks for the update.
