Using a gmail App Password:

When setting up gmail in your Mail app, you need to create and use an app password. You would log in using that password, rather than your Gmail password. Troubleshooting eMail:

A. Contact the Network Administrator:

Not sure what you mean by "cox mail", but if this is not your everyday eMail provider, but rather a private one (i.e. employer's or schools), then seem the Network Administrator for assistance. The Web Master is who to contact when it comes to college eMails.

B. Retrieving these eMails:

Export eMail from Another Device: Power off your router to avoid network access. Then boot up another device associated to the same account. Then, export your mail. Once exported, import it to the account, import them once all is backup and syncing.
