cannot sign out from find my

Hi, I was resetting my Mac, apparently I have to sign out from Find My first, but I have revised my account name before, Find My asked me to log out the previous account. I tried different combination (all the passwords I used) and it always showed the input was wrong. Any idea how can I solve this?

Hi TheLittles, thanks for replying.

I believed Find My asked me to sign out my former Apple ID name, the one that is currently signed in to iCloud on this Mac but with different account name. That means I've been using the same ID, but I changed its name (the email address) from A to B. Find My is asking me to sign out account A.

Logging Out of Find my:

So, is Find My associated to a difference Apple ID? Or is is associated tot the Apple ID that is currently signed in to iCloud on this Mac? If a different Apple ID, then use that Apple ID's password.

Is this a Used Mac?

If so, and you cannot sign in, then you need to have the person currently sign in to iCloud on it sign out on iCloud. Once they signed out, your need to restart the device, and then sign yourself in. Elsewise, it is useless to you. Go to: System Preferences, and click the name on the top left. the person who'll have perform as instructed here, including the iCloud logout: What to do Before you Sell, Give Away, or Trade in your Mac - Apple Support. The seller should have known better.

Learn from this:

So, contact them, seeing if this can be done. If this is on no option, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always be allowed to log into it prior to purchasing a used Mac.

Contact Apple Store Support:

You need to contact Apple Support Directly. This is a User-to-User forum. We are all volunteers. So, as you may suspect, no one here has access to that information — and that is a good thing, BTW. That’s why for Financial Assistance, you need to contact Apple Support. They’ll see what’s going on and will run you through the fix.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
