Apple Pay refund on closed/stolen credit card account

My visa credit card attached to apply pay was stolen and hence the account was closed. I’m returning a purchase made using Apple Pay before it was stolen and want to know how I can expect to get the money back since the credit card was removed from Apple Pay?

Thanks. This is what I expect if the original form of payment was still valid, but the bank has cancelled that account and issued a new one. My guess is the behind the scenes old and new card would get linked so refund would somehow get from Apple Pay to the new card issued in place of the stolen one. I don’t have details on the new card as it’s en route from the bank. Currently, neither the old card that was stolen nor the new card are associated with Apple Pay. I’m sure this has happened to others and things will be resolved and my refund will eventually show up.

Hi there, did you have any luck? I've had the same issue recently... retail customer service paid a refund into my bank account that has been closed for 3 weeks. They insist the payment went through as it went through to my Apple Pay. But my card would not have been active with Apply Pay since my bank account was closed...

Bank and retailer are pointing at each other to resolve the issue. Wondering where my money is most likely sitting?
