I do have an iMac. My question is with the Magic Keyboard. Apple does not put the magic keyboard as an option for support.
I use a magic keyboard with my iMac and the screen lock is right above the delete key and is always being pressed accidentally- I want to disable that button or turn it off.
Perhaps I should ask, "How do you disable the screen lock key on the Magic Keyboard?"
The link you provided has a great picture of the keyboard, showing the lock key, should you want to reference it. I do not want to install an app on my computer to have to "remap" the keyboard.
I do not have an Apple Silicon iMac.
The top, right key. It's in a very inconvenient spot. I would rather not lock my computer with the keyboard. I do not find it necessary to lock it at all. I do use the delete key often and will overreach, apparently, which has caused frustration upon frustration.

What you want is irrelevant if you want to disable the Lock Key. Installing an app or taping it down as others tried in the link I posted are the options. Or, you could acquire a keyboard without a Lock Key.
The Lock Screen is a big flaw for many of us. In my case, I am awaiting surgery for cataract removal. The cataract causes depth perception problems. I find I constantly hit the Lock Screen key. It is remarkably irritating; annoying at best. When one pays money for a product, it should not be badly designed. Notice we have not heard from people who state that it is a well placed tool.
While I like the computer a whole lot, I do find that particular feature badly thought out by the manufacturer. kathleen
I posted feedback the same day I put this question in the forum. Stangely the Magic Keyboard is NOT one of the products listed on their site for feedback. The magic mouse was there, though I put the feeback under "other".
It's working great, thanks.
Logitech wireless keyboards work very well with the iMac. I am typing on it now. I first did a test run to see if all the function keys work and they do, so that is great. I also love that it is black and not white.
So Logitech is a good alternative to Apple, at least as far as Bluetooth keyboards are concerned.
Yes, I bought a different brand, which does not have the lock key above the delete key! I was hoping to stay with Apple because sometimes issues come from straying. So far, so good.
Assuming you now have an Apple silicon iMac, see if Mal-S' solution helps…

Feel free to send Apple feedback.
Which Mac do you have? Your signature indicates you have a 27" iMac which shouldn't have a Lock Screen button on the keyboard.
Hope it works out for you.
You're welcome. Logitech along with Matias and Satechi. I haven't tried any others.
