Is there a way to have the dock appear/disappear with a key command only?
I don't want it to appear/disappear when the mouse pointer gets close to the edge of the screen.
I this possible somehow?

Also, make sure "Automatically hide & show the Dock" is disabled in System Preferences > Dock & Menu Bar.
Unfortunately that doesn't do it. :-(
I disable the "Automatically hide & show the Dock" but as soon as I use "Option Command D" to hide the dock - "Automatically hide & show the Dock" is automatically enabled and the dock still pops up if the mouse pointer gets close to the edge as usual.
I guess I misunderstood the question. I'm not aware of any way to do what you want.
