iPhone doesn’t charge after iOS 17 update
…unless it’s turned off. Please help, maybe some of you have found a solution?.. Because Apple (and Apple Support) sure didn’t.
I tried changing: cables (both apple and non-apple), chargers (same), charging sources (different sockets, in-wall usb port, macbook usb port, non-mac laptop usb port), smart charging settings (disabled optimized charging). I reached out to Apple Support and had my battery undergo a remote check - its working fine and at 87% capacity. The charging port is perfectly clean. I restarted my phone multiple times and performed a hard reset (unfortunately without wiping iOS 17), and it still doesn’t work. The phone does charge (so the hardware is fine), just not when it’s turned on. It sometimes clicks after a few plugs/unplugs, but the bug persists, and let's not pretend sprint-unplugging is a solution.
I have an iPhone 12 pro and the problem appeared after I upgraded iOS from 16 to 17.1.1. No other variable I can think of has changed. It laid down on my desk, updated, and then refused to charge while turned on ever since. The problem persists even after the most recent update (17.1.2). If one more person tells me it “cannot be software” I’m gonna lose it – it cannot be anything else, and I suspect something to do with smart charging.
Before you advise: this guidance doesn’t help, I exhausted it:
