Flight mode still allows notifications

Hi, a recent software update appears to have nullified the Flight mode and suddenly I am getting various notifications from media outlets, texts etc throughout the night. This is only started in recent days, coincidentally, or not since a recent software upgrade. iPhone 15. Any suggestions how to fix?

iPhone 15, iOS 17

Airplane Mode does not automatically disable Wi-Fi. The first time you enable Airplane Mode it turns off all radios, but you can turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth while in Airplane Mode and it will “remember” those choices for subsequent instances. If you don’t want Wi-Fi on, turn it off separately in Settings/Wi-Fi while in Airplane Mode.
