You might want to try a DFU. I believe that stands for Device Firmware Update. Your current operating system is removed and replaced. You would need a MAC or Windows computer and iTunes. It’s very easy to do. The only challenging part sometimes is to get the phone into DFU mode. There are videos online.

If you have a case around your iPhone, then that is most likely the problem. The case is pressing against the side button. It is simple to test, just remove the case and see if it continues.

That is the only time I have seen that issue reported, unless the button has been damaged and that will require service.

Hard reboot of the phone seems to have corrected the issue so far

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have it diagnosed.

I had this issue on my 15 pro max. It was resolved by restarting the device.

yhelp! Mine started doing it 2 days ago If I have the official Apple case on (the clear plastic one). Also 15 pro max.

when I take the case off, it no longer will lock my phone while writing SMS but it will magically scroll back in conversations. Which is equally as annoying.

now it is possible I caused this. When I woke up that day, my hand had gone numb from sleeping. When I got up my phone slid out of my hand and it fell about a half foot height. I just didn’t feel that I had no grip.

but there is absolutely no damage to my phone, and I must have dropped my iPhone 14 at least 100 times in a similar fashion without this happening. Also I did have the official Apple case.

Have you faced this bug again since you restarted your iphone? Also please let me know have you changed your wallpaper after restarting as i heard this bug is related to wallpaper.

After having updated and restarted my iPhone, the bug is gone 👍

A. Being Stuck in a Boot Loop:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this issue, if you don't report it to them.

2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this post.
4. Proceed from there as necessary

It's a new iPhone with a full manufacturers warranty. You can smash it if you want. But did you maybe think about scheduling an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show it to Apple. That's what warranties are for.......

Same here since few days on my iPhone 15 Pro iOS 17.4.1.

I am currently trying to update iOS 17.5.1 and restart to see if the problem resolves 🤷‍♂️

This is happening to my new iPhone pro max 15. It doesn’t matter what I am doing on phone. It’s like it is locking due to inactivity but I am actively using the phone. (typing, scrolling, reading, editing, etc.) and it goes to Lock Screen or wallet randomly.

Same here with the same model as well, I was scrolling Instagram and some app, the screen will locked randomly, with the latest update version installed, but the problem has been existed for 2-3 months.

Same thing!! It’s very annoying I have to login even while doing important things halfway such as making payment!! Anyone have a solution? This happens since latest update😭😭😭 i even set auto lock to ‘never’ and it proceeds to auto lock after couple of seconds😭😭😭😭😭

I have an iPhone15 Pro Max as well and mine just started doing the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago. I’ve tried restarting the phone and the problem still persists. The screen auto locks and will not accept facial recognition. While reading through these comments for the past 5 minutes, it has locked 3 times! I have always been a Samsung- Android user until I got this phone. I’ve loved it up until now!
