iPhone 15 battery health dropped in one month of usage

i bought iPhone 15 on 22 October. And after 25 cycles battery health dropped to 99 and after 30 cycles on 4 December battery health dropped to 98. I am a normal user i don’t play games, i use only few social media apps that’s it. This is not normal because earlier battery health used to drop to 98-99 after one year. I have seen few more users reporting this issue with 15 pro max and 15 plus also. I feel Apple wants everyone to buy iPhone every year or pay for batteries every year. This is pathetic experience.

This is inaccurate. Please explain how my family purchased 4 iPhones the same day, and I’m the only one with the pro max and it has degraded to 98% after only 50 charging cycles. Meanwhile, everyone else in my family has basic iPhone 15’s and they all show 100% life after 100 charges.

So you have different phones than everyone else in the family. Also, you most like aren't using exactly the same apps in exactly the same places.

2% drop after fifty cycles means you’re phone battery will hit 80% in well under 500 charging cycles. The pro max has a bigger battery and should last longer than the basic iPhone 15. I’m not talking day to day, I’m talking about time intervals between needing to replace the battery

You're assuming that the degradation will be linear. It's not.

This is perfectly normal, if your other phone only degraded 1% in a year, then there was something wrong with the sensor.

Batteries degrade over time with usage due to chemical aging, that's just how they work.

You can expect about a 1% drop per month with average use on an iPhone. This is an approximation, that is why it may be plus or minus a few percent on a month to month basis.

Apple recommends replacing it when it reaches 80%. To check your battery health, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

hi nishanth, calculate battery health from the month of purchase and usage. measuring battery health 5 to 6 months once will help us understand how the reduce is happening. Follow the suggested charging practice and it helps to maintain it overall to reach 2.5 years overall lifetime to reach 100 to 80%.

  1. Charging Practice - Avoid draining the battery frequently. If it happens rarely, not an issue. But don't drain it frequently as it could affect battery health.
  2. Cable and Adpater - Use original charging cable or mfi certified cable if its lightning cable. If its USB C, then use original or any branded cable. that will help.

That is all I do to maintain my iPhone battery health. Answered Why is my iPhone battery health reduced? here.

Hi! I have an iPhone 15 for almost 5 months (Bought on December 10) and my battery health dropped at 97%. I m so worried because I don’t think it’s normal to drain like that when I have my 80% limit too and rarely charged at 90-100% (happened 4-5 times at the begging). I charge my phone when is 18-19% and I have 172 cycle count. If there is someone to help me with advice, thanks!

What you're seeing is normal.

You can charge your phone whenever you want. There is no need to wait to some arbitrary percentage.

what that tells me is that the base iPhone 15 has a much better battery.

according to apple, the iPhone 15s are supposed to last a full 1000 charge cycles, and that is based on degradation to 80% battery life.
