I have an iPhone 15 and can’t get my medical id to show on the Lock Screen using facial id, it shows on Lock Screen when using password to unlock. Any ideas? or is this feature not available using facial id with with IoS17

You're welcome. You cannot change those settings. Most emergency responders know how to access the Medical ID, and others usually attempt to open the device to find info, and seeing the Emergency button will give them access.

Here is a way to test it. Cover the dynamic island area so the FaceID camera cannot see you. Tap on the screen to wake the phone, then swipe upwards as if to unlock it. You should see the words FaceID on the screen for a few seconds and then the Passcode screen should come up with Emergency in the bottom left corner and Cancel in the bottom right. Tap on emergency and the phone dial screen should appear and in the bottom left corner of the phone you should see *Medical ID in red letters. Tap that and your Medial ID will appear.

You should not need FaceID or your passcode to display the Medical ID, since the display is intended for first responders to access it when you are disabled.
I’ve done as above but from Lock Screen there is no medical icon for first responders to touch only light and camera icons. It is completely different if using password to unlock as there is the medical icon. If first responders try to access my phone they will only get the Lock Screen and cannot open without Face ID.
With password used to unlock there is a Medical icon for first responders to touch for access to med without having to enter password
Thank you. That has resolved my concern. So if somebody picks up my phone and because the facial recognition doesn’t work it goes to the password screen with the emergency icon button.
Would still like to have the emergency button on the Lock Screen instead of say the torch button.
