I am trying to help a friend that has some hearing loss choose an email ringtone that is just long enough on full volume for them to hear the notification.
I have edited the notification for email, have cranked up the volume, but the tone that is played when mail is received is not the one I set it to.
I have rechecked the settings in all locations and they reflect the newly chosen ringtone, but it still does not play.
Any idea?
You are presumably having difficulty settings the sound(s) that you hear when new email messages are delivered. These sounds are set in several locations - noting that Custom mailbox settings will override the selected default sound.
The default sound for received email is set here:
Settings > Notifications > Mail >
This sound will be heard when you receive email to any of your configured mailbox accounts - unless a specific account has been configured to override the default. You should note that you can have each mail account use a different notification sound:
Settings > Notifications > Mail > Customise Notifications > [Account] >
