My iPhone has just been updated and now has the Journal app. My iPad has also been updated to 17.2 but I don’t see the Journal app. I have tried using the iPhone version but I would much rather use the iPad and a keyboard to make notes about my day than the iPhone

Makes me wonder what they were thinking to launch on the iPhone…. A journal app should have launched with the Mac or the iPad devices with a keyboard. They always seem to be one step behind what we want.
Hello~ This is a technical forum where other forum members try and assist with technical issues. You are not speaking to Apple and this is not a Journaling platform to express “your” thoughts. I would encourage your to let Apple know as noted here many times before…

i completely agree. I have been an inconsistent journaler since the app came out a and its because I hate typing on my phone screen. Id be much more consistent with it if I could use my pencil and/or magic keyboard on the ipad.
This would be the ideal device for it too!
Im sure they are working on the version for ipad. I still have to see how its in the iphone. I haven't updated yet to the new ios18.
But im sure they will try to get the most use case data from iphone users to iron out the problems for the ipad. wishful thinking!

Meanwhile, there are lots of more mature journal apps that are already available for both the iPhone and iPad.

Meanwhile, you may want to try one of the many journal apps available for both iPhone and iPad. Many of them are much better than Apple's.

I probably won't even use it then. The great thing about computers is I know longer have to keep a handwritten journal.

Please add the Journal app to IPad. Had my IPhone stolen in Spain and can’t journal about my anger, sadness, and feelings of violation. That is on my IPad.
Journal App needs to be on the iPad. Not that anyone working at Apple is 40 or older. Eyes start needing the bigger screen of the iPad. Being able to make the screen an easier size on the eyes is most helpful and reduces migraines. The journaling for mental health statements need to be saved until I can use it on my iPad as well. I have been trying to journal my trip to South Africa this week. I would like to be able to share my trip with others but NOT on my phone only.

Honestly, right now it's really rudimentary. There are much more capable third party options availble. That's not to say it won't bet better but, if you want to keep a journal now, you can better.

They may always seem to be one step behind what you (singular) want. But, I really don't think you can speak for all users.

Yes, almost all of the third party apps are better. Day One even lets you access Apple's journaling prompts.
