I am unable to see photos in my messenger on my iPad that are sent to me. When I try to load them, I am receiving the message, media no longer available and the photo was just sent. My software is up to date. This just started today

Mine was doing this as well but i found in settings that the cloud had new terms and conditions that i needed to accept. As soon as i did that messenger could access the cloud and all the photos were visable again. Didnt need to reinstall anything and didnt lose any messages. Hope this helps others as well.
I fixed this by uninstalling messenger and reinstalling.
I first updated the app this morning, and I still had an issue. Not until I uninstalled and reinstalled messenger did mine start working again.
Same issue started for me on 12/13. Uninstalling the app (completely remove it from your device) and reinstalling it seems to have fixed it for me.
I was not getting photos to messenger on my phone but was on my iPad ? - just grey box with message and only started today. As per Monca271 suggestion deleted app on phone and reinstalled… all good now 👍🏼
I deleted the app and reinstalled, not missing any data. Not sure if it’s because of iCloud or not but I have everything I did before.
I just tried turning off my iPhone 14, uninstalling then reinstalling messenger. At least for now, all pictures-sent & received-are showing & no conversations were lost.
Here is what I did and works without reinstalling your messenger app, Go to settings—click on photos—scroll down and click on messenger app—Firstly select NONE on the photo library access and Secondly click on FULL ACCESS. Goodluck guys.
Just update the Messenger app from the App Store and it fixes the problem.
Settings-Messenger (icon) - select All Photos. It worked for me, hope it works for you.
Tried uninstalling the app then reinstalling it. Works for me
I deleted the app twice and all back to normal.
Same thing here. Started on December 13th and thought it'd fix itself.
I deleted and re-installed and it fixed the issue - not sure what went wrong. Possibly a faulty update somewhere.
I just reinstalled messenger and it worked
Uninstall/reinstall the app on my phone worked great. All pics are visible again
I can confirm that removing the messenger app (uinstalling) and reinstalling it from the app store, then signing back in, has resolved the issue.
