Sharing Photos with airdrop

That will work. Dragging may bypass some checks that Photos does, so you'd be better off going to Photos>File>Import and navigate to your user folder and Downloads. It will check for duplicates and problems and may give you some choices for importing.

Are you sure it said they were going to Photos? My Mac says "Receiving Photos from" phone and gives me the option of seeing its location in Finder. I'm glad it doesn't go to Photos, because some stuff I just want to mess with without involving the Photos app.

On a Mac, Airdrop sends pictures to the Downloads folder. I didn't expect that the first time, but it makes sense...
