Go to system prefs, Network (Wifi)->Advanced->TCP/IP tab and set Configure IPv6 to "Automatically". Save and you should be good to go. Might have to disconnect/re-connect or turn wifi off/on.

Good luck!

Hello everyone,

I wanted to add that I've been grappling with this hotspot connectivity issue even before the iOS 17.2.1 update. Currently, I am still facing the problem on MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1, using a MacBook Pro with M2, attempting to connect to an iPhone 15 Pro Max hotspot. The same issue persisted with an iPhone 13 as well.

It's disheartening to experience this problem on a brand new device, especially when one of its advertised features is the ability to provide a reliable hotspot connection. The prolonged persistence of this issue is indeed disappointing, and it highlights the importance of having a seamless experience, particularly for business-related tasks. On-call engineers, people working remotely and many others are relying on a working hotspot...

Thanks unfortunately, I am using an android tablet and it wants an ipv4 address. I am not even sure ipv6 is an option.

We’ve been moving away from Apple. I am so surprised that Apple doesn’t even acknowledge this bug. I tried to explain to tech support why it had nothing to do with my carrier, but she didn’t understand the basics of how hotspots work there was no way she could understand it was a DHCP problem. After about 10 minutes I lost my cool and hung up. Remember when tech support were “geniuses”? Down their dumber than a box of rocks.

I am having exactly this problem, I spent a few hours on the phone today with both Apple and AT&T, both seem convinced that the problem is the other's fault. But it does seem DHCP is failing to give a router or DNS. Interestingly, for me, I can still use my cellular iPad for a hotspot source. My family has 3 iPhones, all of which can't use the HotSpot anymore.

So did apple pretty much kill HostSpot for everyone, across the board?
