iPhone hotspot not working after update to ios 17.2 Connecting with MacBook pro 12.7.2. Appears macbook is not getting DHCP ip address. If I turn on IPV6 on macbook it starts working.

Go to system prefs, Network (Wifi)->Advanced->TCP/IP tab and set Configure IPv6 to "Automatically". Save and you should be good to go. Might have to disconnect/re-connect or turn wifi off/on.

No it does not. Issue still persists on my iPhone 15 Pro Max 512. Even after a network setting reset.
This still isn’t working for me even after setting ipv6 and restarting everything

What’s exactly the issue
My wireless provider has IPv6, but there were issues still with IPv4 only apps. I found a workaround using Terminal:
networksetup -setmanual Wi-Fi 172.20.10.3 255.255.255.240 172.20.10.1
(this sets a static IPv4 within the hotspot DHCP range, you'll want to set back to DHCP as noted below to be able to connect back to other WiFi neworks)
To go back to DHCP on the interface:
networksetup -setdhcp Wi-Fi
