How do I export Journal app entries to html or rtf?

I like to know if there is a way to export entries from the new Apple journal app to some sort of standard compliant format such as html or even rtf.

Of course there is, at least for text. Here's how you do it. Go to the entry, select, edit, press gently twice on any word and expand the select window to include all, look up in the top of the screen, and you will see a menu box, slide the menu box to the end and there it is share!

Sharing selected text to another app is not the same thing as exporting an entry. All you get is the text. You don't get the time/date of the entry. While it may be a useful workaround for some, it doesn't replace the ability, for example, to export entries from a range of dates with their titles and dates to pdf.

It's a disaster not being able to export. Why would apple stuff it up so badly? It's like selling a car without wheels..and you can't buy the wheels anywhere.

I'm not sure I'd consider one app not meeting some people's needs a "disaster". Maybe an inconvenience. If the app doesn't meet your needs, don't use it. There are lots of other options out there.

And, you can let Apple know your thoughts here:

How much work would it take? I mean really, for like a $3 trillion company they could hire somebody to do it in one afternoon at the cost of maybe 1000 bucks.

People who don't program or do project development always think something like this would be cheap or easy.

I really thing that there has to be a way for users to suggest or ask for this feature sooner rather than later. I know that I will stick with apple products but apple does not make all the software we need. I would like to know to to ask for this feature to be made available to so I can use my data elsewhere also. Anyone know how to go about asking apple for that? I submitted something but I do not know if it was any good or even the right way to do it.

Again, this is where you submit feedback:

Whether or when Apple decides to implement such a feature is something no one here could tell you.

There are 2 billion iPhone users. It is not possible for Apple to make all of the software all of those 2 billion users need. That’s why there is an app store where users can select among over a million apps, and usually find all the software they need.

Apple does not try to meet everyone’s needs, because that is impossible. They provide basic apps, and count on 3rd party developers to make more targeted apps.

I use it for Music journaling about listening. For which it is excellent. I’m sure Apple will develop it further tho. But the music log algo is lame tho. Some songs are there which I accidentally autoplayed, while those albums that I was stoked by and listened although not fully, aren’t there. Also there were a lot of other autoplays but it selected only one song I didn’t even play thru.

This was exactly what I was thinking when it came out. Why no way to store as a file or print.

The journal prompts might be nice, but I don't force myself to journal each day.

I've been using locked notes for my journal for years & archive the year in a file.

I can add photos/ videos if I care to, which I don't.

I'm not sure the point of another app.
