How do I export Journal app entries to html or rtf?
I like to know if there is a way to export entries from the new Apple journal app to some sort of standard compliant format such as html or even rtf.

The Journal app is really lacking of basic features as so many in this string have mentioned. I’m holding out for those features to materialize. Also need a means to search. Let’ s hear from apple with some expected dates to make this app useful/useable,
How much work would it take? I mean really, for like a $3 trillion company they could hire somebody to do it in one afternoon at the cost of maybe 1000 bucks. Typical Apple control BS. They think they’re being cute and clever by allowing it to just staying the app. Pathetic.
Day one app has all these features and more. You can use it free or with a subscription, which is minimal. I have no affiliation, but I’ve been using Day One for years. I will switch to Apple‘s Journal app if it improves.
What's worse is backup is OFF by default. So if you migrate to a new phone and didn't know this, your data will not transfer to the new device. They should at least prompt you to check for that. Or hey, they could turn it ON by default instead. Abandoning this tool for sure. too bad. it was cute.

If you use the automatic transfer tools that Apple provides, not having a backup won't affect that.
But you should ALWAYS have a backup. And yes, it's your data and you need to make sure that happens.

I have been using this app to gather clips of a menacing neighbor’s activities from my security cameras. Now suddenly i discover that i cannot export the clips. What a waste of time!
That's what often happens when you use an app for a purpose its developers never intended (and probably never even thought about).
Use Photos to store the clips.

Wow thanks wizard, except I can’t export them to photos. I would never intentionally use an app that traps data solely on my phone.
I know you can't export them from Journal to Photos. I'm suggesting that in the future, you save photos and videos to the Photos app. From the Photos app, you can easily share or export things. And, less directly, I was suggesting that you see what features an app offers before committing important data to it, especially when you're using it in a way that it wasn't intended to be used.
And I think your auto correct made a mistake. The name is Idris, not "wizard".

Agreed on a list of disappointments from Apple. They've lost their way on human factors and usability. Cumbersome useless features and missing obvious features are replacing efficient simplicity.
Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:
Fortunately, we have a wide range of choices other than Apple's Journal app.

It's not entirely clear what you mean by that sentence. One word appears to have been replaced by an emoji. "I am using Journal...?" "Am not?" Regardless, have you told Apple what you would like to see:
really need this export feature, I need to organize enties in Notion.
additionally, having a Journal App for Mac, integrated with Notes, would also be greatly beneficial.
I intended to use the app but changed my mind when I discovered you can’t print or export entries. Apple please fix this.
Just use Bear. They allow you to export. Apple products try to capture your data within their ecosystem. It’s a feature not a bug they want to fix.
It would be nice to export your old journals (eg from a world trip) into a readable or publishable format
Looks like a great app but despite its potential without the ability to easily transfer my valuable journal via export I'm out!
Agreed - lack of ability to export into PDF (at least) is a total dealbreaker. Why invest your heart into something with no future? Apple come on now, obviously you calculated this but why?
