I cannot restore to my iPhone Pro Max 15 from my back up on my iMac

Having had the opportunity to transfer ALL data from OLD iPhone Pro max 13 TO my new Pro max 15 At the Apple store , the advisor agreed with me that it would be easier to do the transfer FROM my computer (iMac) and the backup created LAST evening. I keep getting an ERROR which says " Could not restore the iPhone (326) because the backup was not compatible with the iPhone that is being restored . To restore this iPhone from this backup , you must first set up the iPhone as NEW and restore the software to the latest version" I have DONE that ( 17.2.1) and yet I get the SAME error message. I am NOW being connected to a senior advisor after working with , through FOUR phone calls, FOUR other advisors who obviously were as flummoxed as I am.

Right you are correct. And whatever I had on my old phone must have been the latest up until this new one. The NEW phone when told to ERASE somehow reverted to that older version of 17.0.3. The senior advisor had me FORCE the phone (from my iMac) to download the 17.2.1 and then restore from that point on. So that was the fix as opposed to having had a corrupted back up ( thank the tech gods ) and it is little over 25% of the way toward a backup and I am OVERJOYED . This is data and so forth from the past 16 or 17 years of having an iPhone . So thank you for your support Lawrence .
