ECG Watch/iPhone compatibility

I live in Australia and own an 32GB iPhone 7 Plus running IOS 15.8. My cardiologist has suggested I buy an Apple Watch 6, 7 or 9 so that I can perform and record ECGs when required. My question is, will my current iPhone be compatible with these watches and which would be the best to buy?

all new watches are sold with watchOS10 which requires ios17 on the iphone

if older used devices they could come with watchOS9 which requires ios16

even older watches with watchos8 would be able to work with an iphone that run ios 15
