Updated to iOS 17.2.1 on both iPhone 15 Pro (the iPhone) and iPhone 14. Both iPhones when connnected wired or wirelessly (via an ottocast wireless CarPlay adapter) to a Mazda CX-3 cannot activate CarPlay as usual.
Tried restarted the iPhone, renamed the iPhone. Not working.
How to revive CarPlay?
Took a minute to figure out. Went into settings then CarPlay, removed ALL VEHICLES LISTED, including ones I haven’t used in awhile. Then it connected to my car just fine. Haven’t had an issue after that.
Had this issue since I updated to latest software update tried the suggested things to try but nothing has worked in there another fix or are apple going to do another date to solve this
Downloaded 17.2.1 wired CarPlay connection no longer works. When will this be sorted, I need maps to get to jobs and don’t fancy a fine for using the phone whilst driving
17.3, still doesn’t work!!!
Same issue. Not ok with hands free and need for apps like Waze, teams, etc. did you find a solution?

I’ve read every fix on this site but nothing has worked.
I have no restrictions turned on and new update doesn’t work on CarPlay in new 2024 Lexus. So frustrated!!

Just like someone else mentioned, it’s definitely an IOS 17 issue!
I’m running 17.3.1 and my daughter is still on IOS 16. My wired Carplay doesn’t immediately respond and sometimes I get an error that USB device is not supported on my stereo screen. Occasionally CarPlay will turn on but it can take anywhere from 10 mins to two hours.
What’s really annoying is my daughter - who hasn’t updated to IOS 17 yet -can plug her phone in and Carplay IMMEDIATELY turns on like it’s supposed to. It works flawlessly on IOS 16. I’m hoping Apple issues a fix soon but not holding my breath - we are three updates in to IOS 17 and nothing has happened yet.
