Mouse Pointer Stuttering in Monterey OS

I purchased a brand new Macbook Pro M1 Max in December of 2021 that came installed with Monterey OS. Every Bluetooth mouse I have used stutters and lags and causes problems with workflow by dramatically increasing the time it takes for me to perform any tasks with my mouse. I used 8 different Bluetooth mouses including the latest magic mouse and they all have the same problem. Is there a fix to this issue? I spent about 15 years away from Apple because of stupid problems like this and now that I came back to Apple none of my mouses, including Apple's performs anywhere near as well as my mouses do on my Dell XPS laptop. I spent $6,500 on my Macbook Pro and to have the mouse pointer perform worse than a $200 Walmart laptop is obscene.

Let's se what happens after you do this...

Delete these files & restart...

/Library/LaunchDaemons/us.zoom.rooms.daemon.plist

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.foxit.PDFReaderUpdateService.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.avid.avidlink.plist

/Library/LaunchAgents/com.microsoft.update.agent.plist

On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.

Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.

Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.

Select a volume.

Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.

The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Restart normally.

Give it a few minutes to rebuild caches.

Four things stand out, for me, in the report:

  1. Under Virtual Memory Information, Swap Used is not zero. That would mean that apps or processes cannot "fit" in the existing RAM, and need to be swapped out to the Mac's internal drive. This affects the overall performance of your Mac.
  2. You Mac has an significantly high number of processes loaded & running in the background. Again this would affect performance.
  3. Finally, it looks like you have the CleanMyMac app installed. We get numerous posts here with folks asking us to help them remove this as they/we find that it causes more issues than resolves them. I suggest that you consider completely removing it from your Mac.
  4. Under Diagnostics Information, you have a few apps that are crashing, especially the UniversalControl.app. You may want to consider why you are using this app, and either look for an updated version, or not use it at all.

Does the same thing happen with a wired USB mouse?

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?

Have you either taken this laptop (& some of these mice) to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to them take a look to see what may be causing this in the last two years you owned this laptop? ... or contacted Apple Support in that timeframe?

Regardless, do you have any other electronics nearby that operate in the 2.4 GHz band ... like wireless routers or other Bluetooth devices, when this stuttering occurs?

Finally, to help troubleshoot difficult issues with Mac, we ask folks to run an EtreCheck report, and optionally post it here if they need assistance with interpreting its results. If you are not already aware, EtreCheck is a diagnostics app that greatly aides in troubleshooting Mac issue that was created by a valued forum member.

I ran the app you suggested and the report said no major problems. I run a lot of programs at the same time because I work all day on my computer so I will have Word open, Excel open, Foxit PDF Phantom open as well as my email app open, my browser with 20-30 windows open. I have lots of documents open in Word and my PDF reader sometimes up to 30-40 at the same time. I do research and work as a forensic psychologist. I am driving 2 Dell 38" ultrawide (21:9) monitors as well as the built in MacBook screen because when I close the lid on battery power, it goes to sleep. The only time I can have the lid closed is when the mag safe power is plugged in. But keeping the mag safe power plugged in all the time reduces the life of my battery. Because I cycle my battery constantly my battery gets the same amount of run time it did when I purchased it new. I think the unifed memory is a great idea but it chokes under load. I have the maximum everything including 8TB of SSD storage space built in. I love the performance other than the mouse problem and sometimes when rendering video content in Final Cut Pro the fan turns way up and the machine gets really hot. Render times are pretty slow on this machine compared to my other computers. I do not run anything else at 2.4GHZ. All of my wireless devices, my iPad pros and iPhones all run off the 5.0 GHZ wireless from my router and my MacBook Pro M1 runs directly off of an ethernet connect with 1 gigabyte of service and the wireless is shutoff because for some reason Apple OS will not prioritize the Ethernet over the Wireless so it is really dumb and the difference between 5.0GHZ wireless download speed and Ethernet is about 650 Mega bytes per second. The WiFi maxes out at around 350 Mbps and the Ethernet at around 930 Mbps.
