Can't free space by deleting files on LaCie SSD drive

My 2TB LaCie SSD drive is running out of space. So I moved about 500GB of files onto another drive, deleted them from the SSD drive and emptied the trash. The trash is now empty. The files are on the other drive and not on the SSD drive. But the SSD drive is showing the same amount of used files as before. I've run First Aid on the Disc utility a number of times. I've disconnected and reconnected the drive. But nothing seems to work. Any advice would be much appreciated.
