Headphones acting weird

My iphone headphones repeat whatever is happening in the room. We were watching TV and I had one bud in but nothing was playing. All of a sudden it was repeating the commercial that was on, like it was listening. It’s repeated what my husband says too. It’s creepy and I want to know. If I can turn it off. They’re not official Apple, they’re Amazon brand. They also randomly turn on music.
