The people responding on this support forum are users like you and we only know what Apple says in its documentation and what our own and other users' experience tells us. Apple does not have much on its criteria for refusing refunds. Here are two sections from Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions - Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple

- "All Transactions are final."

I understand this as meaning Apple is starting from a point where any refund is considered an exception. They can simply say no without having to provide a reason. I understand this can be frustrating but by using the service you agree to the terms.

- "From time to time, Apple may suspend or cancel payment or refuse a refund request if we find evidence of fraud, abuse, or unlawful or other manipulative behavior that entitles Apple to a corresponding counterclaim." Make of this what you will.

You can see if the terms are different for where you live by clicking on this link Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple select your location and then your language.

If you feel you want to discuss a refund request, try to contact a live person using a telephone or chat request.

If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

This same thing happened to me today. I signed up for an Apple One trial and canceled because I didn't need it. Now I looked at my bank and they charged for Apple TV only. They are becoming penny-pinching scammers. I signed up for one trial of Apple One, but when I canceled, they broke it down to 3 subscriptions to trick me into not canceling one as soon as I was charged for the Apple TV portion of the Apple One sub. I called. The manager said that was crazy and he didn't have an explanation why that happened. They said I have to put in a refund request and would almost certainly be approved. I was automatically denied. This company is going downhill with subscriptions. I would much rather use my iPhone for phone purposes but sign up for subscriptions through AMAZON since they give their customer service agents the power to help customers. I'm not going to leave Apple devices although it made me research Samsung devices. I won't leave yet since I have an iPhone, iPad Pro, 2 MacBook Pros, Imac, Apple Watch, and Airpod Pros. This will 100 percent prevent me from signing up for anymore trials with Apple though.

I don’t think you understand what I said. I signed up for an Apple One free trial. Apple One includes Apple Arcade, Apple Music, and Apple TV. I canceled Apple One on May 20. It said it will expire on June 4. Now on June 4, Apple charged me for Apple TV although I canceled Apple one. I called Apple to talk to a couple of different agents. None of them can tell me the day that I signed up for Apple TV. They say they don’t see any signup. They only see Apple one. they also say this is crazy. They don’t see how I was charged for this. It’s a glitch in the system possibly. The problem is Apple makes it so that their agents can’t refund you. Only the automated system can. When the automated system automatically denies your refund. You are stuck without your money. I’m just wondering how many other people are being scammed by Apple's automated subscription sign-up, and refund denial.

Just going off of my experience and the fact that Apple does not let you double dip the free trials. For example, if you used a free 30 day trial for each service and then signed up for Apple One free trial, you will not get another 30 days free for each service.

In my case, I had an Apple Music subscription when I signed up for Apple One, I got all the other services free for 30 days, but Apple Music was billed separately at a prorated rate for the first month, then was combined into the Apple One subscription.

Not sure if that was the case for you with Apple TV, but that is how it worked for me with Apple Music. It was not made clear previously if you were currently using a free trial for Apple TV, but if you were, that would explain it. They detail this if the Apple One support page in the fine print:

The Apple One free trial includes only subscriptions that you are not currently using through a free trial or a subscription. Plan automatically renews after trial until cancelled.

I installed an app and purchased a subscription. However the app didn’t work as it was crashing after 5-10s of use. I contacted the software developer who couldn’t provide a solution and told me to request a refund from Apple. Which I did, but it was refused. I appealed and it was refused again.

This is simply unacceptable! I’ve paid for something that I’m not able to use! I would like to know at least what is the argument used to refuse my refund request!

Yes, you are absolutely right. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about the refund. However, I took a different approach: I canceled all my subscriptions through the Apple Store, which included several services. Now, I plan to subscribe directly with the developers.

No Problem. Don't forget that you will also need to cancel those subscriptions directly from each developer and there will be no location on your device to manage those subscriptions. If you are using your credit card number on each of those sites, you have also increased your exposure in case of a compromised account. You also will most likely be met with the same answer when asking those developers for a refund.

Yes it is, I’ve had it happen twice. One enticed me to extend free trial (I actually went to cancel before free trial was up! Ugh!! ) and they promised to send email to remind of ending of free trial (the extended ) and they didn't so of course I forgot, and got charged $60!! So now I have a yoga(also $60) and sleep app for

a year that I probably won’t use 😡. Haven’t used either because I’m mad. lol

Ok now you’re being “literal “. Who cares if it’s “Apple Pay “ or not.. ? you paid
through the App Store that’s all that person meant and I was explaining that’s what they meant I KNOW it’s not the “Apple Pay” that you in use in the store They were just using it for context

I'm not just being literal (which is not a bad thing and doesn't require quotes); I'm being accurate. They are two different things. Getting refunds is different in each case. Specificity matters in technical support.

And, unlike you, I'm not assuming anything about what the person means. They may well have been asking about Apple Pay and not understand how it works. That's a fairly common issue.
