How can I disable voice message feature?

How can I turn off voice messaging inside iMessage? I’m not talking about dictation. That setting is off. I mean the ability to accidentally hit the sound icon to the right side of the message prompt. It is way too easy to accidentally hit that while reading someone’s message and then randomly sending them everything my mic pics up.

last time I checked, iOS doesn’t have a specific setting to disable voice messaging directly within iMessage. However, you can prevent accidental audio messages by tapping and holding the microphone icon to the right of the message field, then sliding your finger up to the "Cancel" option to delete the recording. This way, you can avoid sending unintentional voice messages.

It doesn’t. It replaces voice message with the mic for dictation. On the latest update, Apple hit everyone with the mandatory change here. If you found a way to disable the mic in iMessage before because it’s an annoying feature, the don’t worry! Now Apple has made it so that voice recognition (whose red lines cannot be removed from iMessage text box), which is EVEN MORE ANNOYING, cannot be removed. So now you’ll turn on dictation to prevent even more embarrassing accidents. Apple NNEDA TO CORRECT THIS BY ALLOWING US TO DISABLE BOTH THE DICTATION FEATURE in iMessage AND the Voice Recognition and messaging feature!!!

YES! There is a way - to turn off the Red squiggles in Messages!

I accidentally turned it on today, and it is so annoying!

I turned on when I ‘TURNED OFF’ - Enable Dictation!!

So, after an hour of research, trial & error…

I decided to go back & TURN ON -

ENABLE DICTATION!!

Amen!!

Old blue microphone 🎤 Is Back!!

And I never accidentally hit that!!

FIXED:

Go to Settings -> General -> Keyboards-> go all the way down to

DICTATION -> Click ENABLE DICTATION …. Done!

If You further want to Turn Off the Microphone (Blue)… there a tons of videos on You tube to Remove that as well!!

Apple change your keyboard ASAP. Literally the most annoying feature of IOS

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

Meanwhile, consider using one of the many third-party keyboards available in the App Store.
